WWE Superstars Randy Orton, Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, Chelsea Green, and Cathy Kelley attended the Speed Goes Pro LA Premiere at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum yesterday evening.
Speed Goes Pro features popular streamer and huge WWE fan iShowSpeed in a six-episode YouTube series that puts Speed in head-to-head competition with some of the biggest names in sports.
During the premiere as Speed was greeting guests, he snuck up behind Randy Orton and was jokingly ready to RKO him as Sheamus, McIntyre, and Orton’s wife Kim looked on.
“Thank you for not RKOing me just now,” Orton told him. Orton said that Speed owes him one, a statement that Speed kinda refuted, saying that Orton “did a lot of shit” to him.
It’s unclear if any of the WWE Superstars who appeared are part of the series, but judging from the interaction with Orton, it seems that Orton is in. The list of athletes appearing on the show remains a secret.
iShowSpeed appeared several times on WWE broadcasts, including getting RKOed by Orton at WrestleMania and earlier this year getting his soul speared right out of him by Bron Breakker in a surprise appearance at the Royal Rumble.
The distinction between casual and strategic betting frequently boils down to one factor: understanding what to evaluate. Wrestling results often appear unpredictable from the outside, but statistics offer a different picture. Statistics reveal tendencies. Trends predict performance. Understanding certain wrestling analytics is one of the best things bettors can do to improve their game.
This is not about gimmicks or showy entrances. It is about patterns. Wrestlers, like other athletes, acquire rhythms with time. Their statistics show you where they excel, where they struggle, and how they perform under pressure.
That is where smart bettors discover an advantage.
And as more sportsbooks add wrestling to their lineups, particularly for significant events such as Olympic qualifiers, collegiate tournaments, and professional circuits, stat-savvy is more important than ever.
In recent years, online betting companies have increased access to the wrestling markets. Platforms like betway have allowed fans to explore niche sports and apply real data in real time. The accessibility of these markets has helped fuel betting interest in freestyle, Greco-Roman, and even scripted formats. But with accessibility comes competition. And with competition, your advantage lies in the numbers.
Below are five wrestling stats that can offer tangible insight into match outcomes, momentum, and betting opportunities. Use them. Track them. And let them guide your wagers.
1. Takedown Success Rate
This is arguably the most important stat in freestyle and folkstyle wrestling. Takedowns decide tempo. A wrestler with a high takedown success rate controls the pace, racks up points, and often forces the opponent into defensive mode.
This stat becomes even more powerful when cross-referenced with takedown defense. For instance, a wrestler who scores takedowns at a 70% clip but defends at only 50% might be dominant early, but vulnerable in long matches.
Real-world application? Consider two wrestlers. One averages 3.8 takedowns per match. The other, 1.4. On paper, the first looks stronger. But if the second has an 85% takedown defense rate, you have a tactical clash where the underdog could hold their ground and score late points. These are the dynamics bettors must identify.
2. Match Win Percentage vs. Ranked Opponents
Not all wins are created equal. Beating unranked or mid-tier opponents doesn’t tell you how someone performs when it counts. That’s why performance against top-10 or top-20 ranked wrestlers is such a critical betting stat. Some wrestlers build padded records with dominant performances against soft opponents. But throw them into the fire of a tournament bracket with elite contenders, and they fold.
Track how wrestlers perform when the stakes are higher. Match win percentage against ranked opponents provides that lens. It reflects a wrestler’s resilience, technical adaptability, and mental strength. This stat is particularly useful in NCAA wrestling and international freestyle, where upsets are common, but never random.
3. Average Match Length and Conditioning
Wrestling is a grind. Endurance matters. That’s why average match length and third-period scoring trends can uncover hidden betting value. Wrestlers with a tendency to score late or perform better as matches wear on are valuable picks, especially against explosive but short-winded opponents.
Here’s what to watch for:
Average match duration across a 10-match sample
Scoring differentials per period (first vs. third)
Number of matches won by decision in the final 30 seconds
A wrestler who routinely finishes matches strong and secures points in the dying moments is someone worth watching in live betting markets. They might not be the favorite pre-match, but they become the favorite if the clock hits 5:00 and they’re still pushing forward.
4. Penalty Points and Caution History
Wrestlers with discipline issues often lose matches they should win. Accumulated caution calls, passivity warnings, and technical fouls can tilt a close match in favor of a disciplined opponent. This stat category isn’t just about sportsmanship. It directly impacts betting outcomes. In tight bouts, one or two penalty points can make or break a spread bet or a total points wager.
Caution trends include:
Number of cautions per match
Frequency of stalling calls
Disqualifications or match forfeits due to penalties
If you’re wagering on a wrestler with a strong offense but a poor caution record, factor that into your risk assessment. Especially in tournament formats where officiating becomes stricter, and margins matter more.
5. Turnover Rate (Allowing Near-Falls and Escapes)
Turnover stats can describe defensive cracks that are often overlooked. While takedowns measure aggression, turnovers show composure under pressure. Allowing frequent near-falls or escapes reflects poor technique but also signals lost momentum. Wrestling is often decided by shifts in control. A single near-fall can give up four points. For bettors, that’s a swing that can blow up a spread or change the direction of a prop bet.
Consider these practical angles:
How many near-falls a wrestler allows per match
How often they get reversed after initiating control
Escape points given up after takedowns
A wrestler who can score but can’t hold is risky. Against technically savvy opponents, they’re likely to give up too many easy points to cover a spread or win on technical superiority.
Putting It Together
You don’t need to track dozens of stats. You just need the right five. And the ones listed above give you a clear edge in match analysis. Here’s how experienced bettors apply these stats:
Compare takedown ratios and turnover rates to determine control dynamics
Cross-reference caution history with average match duration to assess stamina and discipline
Use ranked opponent win percentage to find live dog picks with proven upside
These aren’t theoretical tools. They’re used by bettors who study film, track trends, and make sharper wagers as a result.

WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque and his wife Stephanie McMahon were in Washington, DC yesterday and appeared with President Donald Trump at the Oval Office as he signed executive orders to use artificial intelligence for child cancer research.
McMahon spearheaded the executive order following her ties to Connor’s Cure, the organization set up in honor of WWE fan Connor Michalek who passed away with cancer several years ago.
“Kids shouldn’t even know what cancer is, let alone have to face it. And this incredible team believes that too,” McMahon said. “This executive order makes kids with cancer the first focus of AI innovation across health care in America.”
She added that if there is one thing in the world that could bring people together, is children, because she can guarantee that if your child was diagnosed with cancer, no one would care what party your doctor belonged to.
“And President Trump is doing just that, enabling every child with cancer gets the best care possible. And we couldn’t be more grateful,” she continued.
Triple H said that he was proud of his wife for her dedication to Connor’s Cure and her tireless advocacy in fight against pediatric cancer over the past decade.
“Today’s Executive Order, which she spearheaded, marks a historic breakthrough in this incredibly important cause,” he said.
Joining them was Linda McMahon, the Secretary of Education and Robert F Kennedy, the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
Wrestling fans often seek more than just the latest wrestling news or WWE news about match outcomes and championships. The lives of wrestlers beyond the spotlight capture attention because they reveal another side of public figures who dedicate much of their time to performance, travel, and training. While the ring defines their professional identity, the way wrestlers spend free time reflects how they balance pressure, recovery, and personal fulfillment.
Casino Leisure and Wrestlers’ Free Time
Outside of the demanding schedules of travel and performance, wrestlers—like many entertainers—often explore various ways of relaxing. Some choose quiet time with family, others turn to hobbies like video gaming or travel. Among these activities, casinos occasionally appear as spaces of leisure, not unlike clubs or restaurants. While such visits are primarily recreational, they are frequently mentioned in lifestyle features. This creates an additional layer of interest for fans following wrestling news.
For instance, some wrestlers have been noted in coverage that links them with gaming culture or casino visits while on tour. Similar mentions appear in fan discussions across forums, blogs, and the official site of Jackpota, which catalogs forms of entertainment enjoyed by public figures. These insights highlight that casino play is one of many elements within the broader leisure culture associated with sports entertainers.
Roman Reigns: Balancing Stardom and Family
Roman Reigns is often central to WWE news because of his status as one of the leading figures in modern wrestling. Yet away from the spotlight, his private life revolves heavily around family. He has been covered in interviews discussing his role as a father, and this aspect of his personality resonates with fans who see him as more than just a performer.
The dual role of being a cultural icon and family man requires careful balance. Wrestling schedules demand significant travel, often taking superstars across continents within a week. Despite this, Roman Reigns is known for prioritizing time with his family, shaping his image not only as a professional but as a relatable individual.

Cody Rhodes has become a fixture of wrestling news due to his connection with wrestling legacy and his dedication to training. As the son of Dusty Rhodes, he represents both continuity and reinvention in wrestling culture. His professional commitments often extend into personal projects, making his lifestyle both public and private at the same time.
In his free time, Rhodes is often described as someone who maintains a disciplined routine. Training, family commitments, and occasional hobbies like travel or media appearances fill his schedule. Fans following WWE news observe that his approach to relaxation is closely tied to his identity as both an athlete and entertainer.
Rey Mysterio: Cultural Icon and Personal Interests
Rey Mysterio stands out as a figure whose influence stretches far beyond WWE. Recognized globally, he has become symbolic of lucha libre culture while serving as a bridge to international audiences. Wrestling news often highlights his role as an ambassador for wrestling, while WWE news emphasizes his active participation even after decades of performing.
Outside of wrestling, Mysterio has been associated with family-oriented activities, cultural projects, and charity appearances. His free time often reflects his roots and cultural connections, making him one of the most recognizable wrestlers both inside and outside the ring.

Wrestlers and Hobbies: From Gaming to Travel
The broader culture of wrestling news shows that wrestlers engage in hobbies beyond their professional lives. Video gaming is particularly popular, with many wrestlers participating in live streams or fan events connected to esports. Travel, often part of their professional duties, also doubles as a leisure activity when they extend stays or explore new locations.
In addition, fitness beyond training routines sometimes enters into coverage. Activities like yoga, meditation, and recreational sports are common. These hobbies highlight the diverse approaches wrestlers take to maintaining balance in lives often dominated by performance and publicity.
The Role of Media in Shaping Perceptions
Media outlets play a significant role in shaping how fans view wrestlers. Wrestling news platforms not only report match results but also highlight how superstars spend their downtime. WWE news often merges professional and personal elements, creating narratives that make wrestlers more relatable and multidimensional.
This role of the media ensures that fans see Roman Reigns as both a performer and a father, Cody Rhodes as both a legacy and an innovator, and Rey Mysterio as both a global ambassador and a family man. By shaping these perceptions, media narratives connect wrestling culture with broader lifestyle interests.
Conclusion
The lives of wrestlers outside the ring reflect balance, identity, and the demands of global recognition. While wrestling news and WWE news focus heavily on performance, they also reveal dimensions of personality, family, and hobbies. From Roman Reigns’ commitment to family, Cody Rhodes’ disciplined approach to legacy, and Rey Mysterio’s cultural contributions, each wrestler shows that life beyond the ring is complex and multifaceted. Leisure, including occasional mentions of casinos, is one part of this broader culture of balance and identity within professional wrestling.
The Invasion name which was being used to promote next week’s NXT and TNA special on The CW has been changed to Showdown.
The change was made official last night on NXT.
The name and date coincided with the Hamas attacks on Israel of October 7, 2023 which killed over 1,000 people and kickstarted the new war in the Middle East.
With the unfortunate parallels, WWE decided to avoid further scrutiny and change the name to Showdown. The Showdown logo uses the same font and colors of the Invasion logo, with a large red W instead of a V.
A new trademark application was filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for the new name yesterday.
The build towards Invasion will kick up a notch tonight on NXT on The CW as TNA stars are expected to be part of the broadcast.
NXT General Manager Ava and her TNA counterpart, Director of Authority Santino Marella will be on the show to choose the teams for the Invasion Survivor Series-style matches.
Each of them will select 10 stars, five men and five women, who will make up Team NXT and Team TNA in the two scheduled matches on October 7.
The only match announced for tonight’s show so far is Jaida Parker vs Lash Legend.
Variety is reporting in an exclusive story that AEW star Adam Copeland has been cast in the upcoming movie The Beekeeper 2.
He is joined by Pom Klementieff as the latest stars to join the cast of the Jason Statham-led action thriller.
There is no information on what character Copeland will be playing as everything regarding the movie has been kept a secret. The movie is currently in production.
The original movie grossed $162 million worldwide and the second installment will see Jeremy Irons, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Bobby Naderi and Jemma Redgrave reprising their original roles.
Edris Enofe has announced his departure from WWE where he was part of the NXT roster. Enofe made the announcement via a video published on his social media accounts.
“This is a decision that I thought about for a very long time and I’m gonna trust my gut on this,” he said.
“With that being said, for the past four years, I had the chance and the opportunity to meet and work with incredible people from the wrestlers to the referees to the creative team to the medical staff, and of course to all the coaches who put in so much time and effort into making me better,” the California native continued. “And for that, I will always appreciate y’all and of course all the fans who have supported me and stuck by my side through all these years. Thank you.”
He joined NXT in 2021 and was in a team with Malik Blade for a while before moving to singles competition around mid last year. He appeared mostly on EVOLVE and his last NXT televised match was in June of last year. His last match for the company was a loss to Lince Dorado at a non-televised live event in July.
Ridge Holland will be out of action for a while after sustaining a foot injury during a TNA Impact television taping this past weekend.
Following his match against Mike Santana at Victory Road, Holland wrestled Moose on Saturday for a match which was set for an upcoming Impact. But the match was stopped after Holland suffered the injury, with Moose and other officials helping Holland walk to the back.
Holland wrote on X that he will undergo surgery Friday for the Lisfranc fracture he is suffering from. A Lisfranc injury is damage to the joints and ligaments in the midfoot, where the long metatarsal bones connect to the tarsal bones in the arch.
The British star has been mainly appearing at NXT non-televised live events and EVOLVE, with his last NXT televised appearance coming in the beginning of May.
The next Blood and Guts event will take place on Wednesday, November 12 live from the First Horizon Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The location is formerly known as the Greensboro Coliseum, a 22,000-seater venue where Sting’s farewell match was held at Revolution.
This will be the first AEW show at that location since Revolution 2024. While the company runs at much smaller locations lately, a bigger venue is required to accommodate the double ring and steel structure.
Early access premium seating sales starts tomorrow, October 3 at AEWTix.com.
It’s possible that a men’s and women’s Blood and Guts match will be held on the day as the match was already teased by Jamie Hayter on Collision this past week.
A new match was added to the Crown Jewel: Perth premium live event as Australia’s own Rhea Ripley will be teaming up with Iyo Sky to take on Asuka and Kairi Sane.
The four were involved in the opening of Raw this week, with Sky trying to tell Ripley that Asuka and Sane are still like “family” to her. Asuka, in a taped video message, said that she would forgive Sky for her actions if she apologized to her.
But that was just a distraction as Asuka and Sane came in from behind and attacked Ripley. After a while, Sky defended Ripley but was misted by Asuka for her actions.
The Pirate Princess tried to get Sky to apologize to Asuka in later backstage segments, but Sky wanted none of it and informed Sane that they’ll meet in the ring at Crown Jewel.
Climbing a flight of stairs may leave one short of breath, but lifting a heavy box shows a very different kind of challenge. This contrast, typically experienced by everyone, reflects the difference between resistance training and cardio. Both support health, but weight training is more effective for directly increasing muscular strength.
This blog shows the benefits of strength training, especially in how it differs from cardio. By the end, the blog will explore why weight training is the most effective path for greater muscular strength.
Defining the Key Terms
Before getting into it, it is important to understand the differences in mechanisms and effects between muscular strength and cardiorespiratory fitness.
Muscular strength
Muscular strength refers to how much force the muscles can produce when working against resistance. It is usually tested through the one-rep max (1RM), or the heaviest weight lifted in a single repetition. That is why strength improves once the muscles grow and the body learns to use them efficiently.
Cardiorespiratory fitness
Cardiorespiratory fitness measures the health of a person’s heart, lungs, blood vessels, and circulatory system. It is usually measured by VO₂ max, which shows how well the body uses oxygen. Remember that exercises like running, cycling, and swimming may build endurance, but they do not significantly increase maximum strength. In contrast, some peptides, such asGonadorelin, have been explored for their role in hormone regulation, which can indirectly support recovery and training capacity.
How Weight Training Builds Muscular Strength
Weight training works by using progressive overload. This process actually sets off several of these changes in the body:
Muscle Hypertrophy
When muscles recover after lifting, tiny tears in the fibers heal and grow back stronger and bigger. This muscle hypertrophy process makes strength gains possible, and it has even been studied in relation to growth factors like IGF-1 LR3, which play a role in muscle repair and development.
Neuromuscular Adaptations
The nervous system also gets better at sending signals to the muscles. This improves coordination and allows more muscle fibers to work together and increase overall strength.
Hormonal Response
Weight training triggers a hormonal response, which raises growth hormone and testosterone levels. These hormones help the muscles recover and grow stronger.
Altogether, these explain why weight training is more effective for developing muscular strength than cardio alone.
Cardio training focuses on sustaining movement for extended periods. That is why it can strengthen the body in these ways:
Cardio improves heart stroke volume and efficiency.
It enhances oxygen delivery through increased capillarization.
Cardio also boosts mitochondrial density for better energy production.
Although these changes build endurance and overall stamina, cardio does not apply enough mechanical load to the muscles. That is why it doesn’t trigger muscle hypertrophy or significantly increase maximum strength.
Key Scientific Studies/Research Evidence
A 2017 review in Sports Medicine found that resistance training increases muscle size and strength more than aerobic exercise. Meanwhile, another study in Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise showed that strength training not only builds muscle but also improves bone density and metabolism.
Practical Training Recommendations
Weight Training
The goal here is to build strength and muscle mass while improving overall performance.
Frequency: 2-4 sessions per week
Example Training Styles:
Powerlifting: Heavy loads (80-95% of 1RM) with low reps (1-5) to maximize strength.
Bodybuilding/Hypertrophy: Moderate loads (65-80% of 1RM), 6-12 reps to build size and strength.
Circuit Training: Combines resistance and cardio for improved muscular endurance.
Cardiorespiratory Fitness
Cardiorespiratory training focuses on improving cardiovascular and pulmonary health to build stamina and aerobic capacity.
Frequency: 2-3 sessions per week
Example Training Styles:
Steady-State Cardio: Running, cycling, or swimming at moderate intensity for 30–60 minutes.
HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training): Short bursts of intense activity followed by rest to support calorie burn and cardiovascular fitness.
Tempo Runs/Threshold Training: A sustained and challenging pace to improve VO₂ max.
Concurrent Training
This training plan combines the benefits of both strength and endurance work. The balance of both strength training and cardio may actually deliver well-rounded fitness.
Important guidelines to consider:
Strength and cardio can be scheduled on separate days or as split sessions on the same day.
In split sessions, perform weight training first and cardio second to keep muscular strength as the priority.
Strength training: 2-3 sessions per week
Cardio: 2 sessions per week, 20-40 minutes each
Common Misconceptions
Misconceptions about weight training, cardio, and their effects are often spread everywhere. Although they may sound convincing, they are not always supported by scientific evidence. Some may include:
“Cardio kills your gains.”
Research actually shows that moderate cardio, when paired with proper recovery and nutrition, does not prevent strength improvements.
“Lifting weights is the same as cardio.” Fast-paced lifting may raise heart rate. However, it does not provide the same cardiovascular adaptations as sustained aerobic exercise. Cardio improves heart and lung efficiency in ways that weight training alone cannot.
“Weight training alone is enough. Cardio isn’t necessary.”
Weight training may build muscular and bone strength. However, cardio improves heart health, circulation, and endurance. That is why both are needed for long-term, balanced health.
Conclusion
Despite their differences, weight training builds muscular strength, which is the key to lasting power. Meanwhile, cardio supports endurance and heart health. In the end, a program that values strength and endurance offers the most complete approach to long-term fitness.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can cardio improve strength at all?
Yes, cardio improves muscular endurance and overall fitness. However, it’s not as effective for maximal strength gains.
How long does it take to see strength gains from weight training?
Most beginners see progress in 4-6 weeks, as the nervous system adapts first. This is then followed by muscle growth.
Is it better to do cardio or weights first?
If your main goal is strength, you must prioritize weight training first. Afterwards, you may follow it with cardio.
Can you build muscle and endurance at the same time?
Yes, through concurrent training. Although strength gains may be slightly slower if endurance work is excessive.

Roman Reigns has finished his filming commitments in Australia for the Street Fighter movie and returned to Raw last night, a month after he was wiped out by The Vision during the Clash in Paris premium live event.
Reigns came out to assist his cousins, The Usos, in their tag match against Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker, and served some revenge after the events in Paris, including destroying Breakker with a chair. The Usos won the main event match after Jimmy and Jey hit a double Samoan splash.
Following the match, Reigns shook hands with Jey Uso and offered some words to the former WWE World Heavyweight champion, approving his methods and actions from recent weeks. Jimmy, standing in the background, looked on and was ignored by the Tribal Chief.
The Usos have been arguing lately, with Jimmy questioning Jey’s methods especially in dealing with LA Knight.
Raw will be airing at 7PM ET tonight for the third straight week live from the Lenovo Center in Raleigh, North Carolina and streaming exclusively on Netflix worldwide.
Only three matches have been announced as of press time, with Dominik Mysterio defending the WWE Intercontinental title against Rusev, Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed of The Vision take on Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso in a tornado tag tea match, and Bayley battles Raquel Rodriguez.
The only other item announced is that both Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley will be appearing following last week’s show where they were attacked by Asuka and Kairi Sane.
