Sting will be traveling to the United Kingdom for three Q&A events similar to those that people such as Jim Ross, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, and others do.
The former WCW champion will be at The Lyric Theatre in London on October 5, at The Comedy Store in Manchester on October 6, and finally at The Garage in Glasgow on October 7.
Limited VIP tickets will include an autograph as well as a photo with Sting with his face painted.
Tickets will go on sale on Friday, July 24, at 9AM local time. No prices have been released yet. They will be available through InsideTheRopes.co.uk.
Around 4 months following his last appearance on WWE television, the Undertaker appeared at the Battleground pay-per-view last night and took out the former WWE World Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar.
Taker, who last wrestled at WrestleMania 31 against Bray Wyatt following one full year away from television, returned for revenge, causing the man who ended the streak the WWE title. The two have a very long history together with sometimes getting too personal although it was the Undertaker who reportedly chose Lesnar to end his streak.
The news of return of the Undertaker was first put out on the Reddit SquaredCircle community by an insider who said people should really watch out for Battleground because there would be something with the “man with the coffins.” Eventually other reports then surfaced saying Taker would be on Raw, and not necessarily at Battleground, to kick start his angle for SummerSlam, an angle which now will most likely lead to Lesnar vs Undertaker.
This is the first time in years that the Undertaker will be participating at another event during the year apart from WrestleMania.
Here are the results from last night’s Battleground pay-per-view which took place at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
King Barrett defeated R-Truth in the Kickoff match; Randy Orton defeated Sheamus; The Prime Time Players defeated The New Day to retain the WWE Tag Team titles; Bray Wyatt defeated Roman Reigns; Charlotte defeated Sasha Banks and Brie Bella in a triple threat; John Cena defeated Kevin Owens to retain the United States title; Seth Rollins vs Brock Lesnar ended in a no contest after The Undertaker appeared and laid out Lesnar.
With just hours away from Battleground on pay-per-view, Brock Lesnar is the favorite to win the main event according to online betting odds. The former champ is at 8/11 to win while Seth Rollins is at 1/1.
In other title matches Kevin Owens is also favorite to win his match against Cena with odds at 4/6 while Cena is at 11/10. The other match for the Tag Team titles favors the current champions The Prime Time Players at 8/13 while The New Day are at 6/5.
Bray Wyatt is the favorite over Reigns with 8/11 odds and Reigns at 1/1. Sheamus and Orton are dead even both at 5/6 while King Barrett is the clear favorite at 1/3 versus R-Truth at 9/4 in the Kickoff match.
Former TNA star Jesse Sorensen wrestled at the NXT television tapings this past Thursday, working a very quick match against Baron Corbin.
Sorensen worked for TNA between 2011 and 2013 and during the Against All Odds pay-per-view in 2012 he suffered a C-1 vertebrae fracture with spinal cord edema during a match against Zema Ion. Doctors initially said he won’t be able to wrestle anymore but he returned less than a year after suffering the horrible injury.
Sorensen worked backstage for TNA in the meantime and Dixie Carter said that he would have a job for life with the company. Despite her promise, he was released on July 2013 with TNA claiming that Sorensen didn’t want to learn a new job because he wanted to wrestle.
He has not signed a WWE deal and was only used as an enhancement talent for Corbin, who wrestled squash matches four different times during the tapings.
Live from the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri, WWE presents Battleground on pay-per-view and on the WWE Network. The full card is as follows:
Seth Rollins vs Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight title; John Cena vs Kevin Owens for the United States title; Prime Time Players vs The New Day for the Tag Team titles; Randy Orton vs Sheamus; Roman Reigns vs Bray Wyatt; and R-Truth vs King Barrett in the Kick-off match with Barrett’s KOTR crown on the line.
The Intercontinental title match has been scrapped from the card as Ryback is unable to compete and automatically booting The Miz and The Big Show off the card as well. WWE is likely to add one or two more matches to the card.
John Gaburick, TNA’s Executive Vice President of Creative and Talent Relations confirmed that MVP has officially left the company.
“TNA Impact Wrestling and MVP have mutually agreed to part ways. We wish him the best in the future,” the small statement read.
Meanwhile MVP said the year and a half he spent at TNA were fun and he will be missing the boys and girls in the back. He described the locker room full of passion and talent and true professionals.
MVP decided to call it quits after the Beat Down Clan angle was eliminated from future TNA Impact broadcasts due to Hernandez not being able to appear because of his contract with Lucha Underground.
In a post on Twitter, William Regal said that people are over-analyzing the arrival of Jushin “Thunder” Liger at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn because the fact is that there is no back story and it was just a favor he cashed in.
“Sometimes just being around enough you can call a friend. It really is as simple as me making a call to a friend I’ve known since 1986 to come and compete for @WWENXT,” Regal wrote in a few tweets.
With this statement it seems that WWE went straight to Liger for this agreement rather than through NJPW. Liger can negotiate international deals by himself.
He then proceeded to give some words of wisdom. “A lesson – be polite, helpful, understand that a still tongue keeps a wise head and you’ll earn a lot of trust and people will help when needed.”
Jushin “Thunder” Liger will wrestle Tyler Breeze at the event and it will be his first time stepping inside a WWE ring.
Tickets for NXT Takeover: Brooklyn vanished in under two minutes after going on sale to the general public at Noon.
Searches for any kind of ticket for the event on Ticketmaster.com returns zero results. The pre-sale a few days ago also sold out pretty quickly.
WWE will not be using the full Barclays Center for NXT Takeover but judging from the big demand for tickets, additional seats might be added to accommodate those traveling to New York for the big weekend.
No seat map was made available on Ticketmaster so it’s not clear how the arena will be set up. Ticket reselling website Stubhub.com has a ton of tickets for sale but obviously they are overpriced. Row 2 seats are going for $500 while originally they were $80.50 on Ticketmaster.
NXT Takeover: Brooklyn kicks off a three day WWE stay at the arena with SummerSlam and Raw the next night also being held there.
Former WWE Women’s champion Candice Michelle and her husband welcomed their third child yesterday, a daughter.
“She has arrived! We’re are all healthy safe and I’m so in love with my new creature,” she wrote in a message on Twitter yesterday.
Michelle, who wrestled for WWE between 2004 and 2009, is married to Los Angeles chiropractor Ken Gee Ehrlich. The other two daughters are AkiAnne Rose, born on May 23, 2010, and Ryumi Grace, born on October 2012.
TNA’s MVP has been posting on his Twitter and Facebook that he is gone from the company following the removal of all BDC footage from upcoming Impact Wrestling shows, a group that he was part of.
The issue was because Hernandez, who was brought in after the recommendation of MVP, was unable to appear on TNA due to his contract with Lucha Underground. They all filmed several weeks worth of footage, all of which will end up cut in post-production, effectively putting MVP off television as well.
“The BDC is no more. So long TNA…” he wrote on Facebook, adding his booking e-mail for those interested in hiring him.
On Twitter he then posted a YouTube video of a song called Sailing On and adding, “Dear @IMPACTWRESTLING I dedicate this classic to you. It was fun…”
He had been working with TNA since January 2014, first revealing himself as the “investor” who signed The Wolves. Prior to that he spent five years working for WWE.
TNA will be taping their flagship show Impact Wrestling in York, Pennsylvania, at the York Fair Grandstand on September 17.
Impact will certainly have a different feel that night as this is not your typical arena and while the majority of the seats are covered, those on the field – including the ring – and in the Plaza level will be in the open.
This will be the first Impact Wrestling show away from Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, for several months and a show where TNA will actually get some money from. TNA does not charge for tickets when running at Universal Studios.
Tickets are available now at etix.com and prices are $15, $25, $35, $45, and $55.
UPDATED: In a post on Twitter submitted minutes ago, former WWE Heavyweight champion Daniel Bryan said that the interview being circulated around is fake and he never said what wrestling websites are being reported.
“I appreciate all the thank yous, but the entire interview claiming that I said my time is over is a fake. I will be back wrestling,” Bryan said.
In the original article, we posted Brie Bella’s comments from a recent interview she did with British tabloid newspaper The Mirror where here comments regarding Bryan’s wrestling future were totally different than this now alleged interview.
“But my husband has so much fight in him and he tells me every day ‘I’m getting back in that ring, just you watch’ and I’m like ‘oh I bet you will’. I have his support 100% and I really think he will get back in there, I really do. He doesn’t see it any other way,” she said.
ORIGINAL STORY: During a radio interview with 92.7 KGHO in Aberdeen, Washington, to promote his upcoming book, former WWE World Heavyweight champion admitted that his time “is over” and fans should just “let it go.”
When asked about his thoughts on Battleground, Bryan said he doesn’t have time to watch the current product although he does watch NXT and of course Tough Enough.
“For those waiting for my return I appreciate it but let’s focus on what’s going on right now,” he said. “I’ve had my time and it’s over so it seems but there’s an abundance of talent on the main roster for them to pay attention too. Just let it go.”
Bryan said that he enjoys doing Tough Enough as they fly him in to Florida, he talks to the cast for a few, and then he’s flown back home. “It’s easy and I love it,” Bryan said. “I only do Tough Enough and Tough Enough should be about Tough Enough and not me. It’s about those young men and women who want a future in this company.”
His comments are in contrast of what Brie Bella said last week during her media tour with the UK press for Total Divas. She said that her husband really thinks he can go back to the ring and tells her that every day.
Nick Aldis, the man formerly known as Magnus in TNA, announced a new book today titled The Superstar Body, a half instructional, half motivational guide to what it takes to make your body into a vehicle for success.
Aldis takes you through his life and career, focusing on how he’s achieved a body that is in great balance in terms of functionality, health and aesthetics for his needs.
The book, available in hardcover as well as digitally, will be released on November 1, 2015, and is published by Pitch Publishing. It will have 224 pages and is already available for pre-order from Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
Aldis is the first British wrestler to become the TNA World Heavyweight champion and is now part of the Global Force Wrestling promotion headed by Jeff Jarrett. Yesterday he did an AMA with the Reddit SquaredCircle community which you can read at https://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/.
Not only will the Undertaker be wrestling at this year’s SummerSlam pay-per-view, but former WCW champion Sting is also booked for the show and will have a match according to the Wrestling Observer. The two are not going to wrestle each other.
This would mark Sting’s second match in WWE following his WrestleMania battle against Triple H. He has not appeared on WWE television since then and it’s not known if Sting will be on this Monday’s Raw to start his angle.
Sting’s WWE contract is very limited on appearances which is why we haven’t seen much of him on TV.
The movie Trainwreck, featuring Amy Schumer which John Cena has a supporting role in will be released in theaters nationwide today.
The R-rated comedy is directed by Judd Apatow and written by Amy Schumer. Cena, who plays the character of Steven, has a sex scene with Schumer in the movie and its storyline was played out on an episode of Total Divas where Nikki was jealous and not happy that he did not tell her about it.
Joining Schumer and Cena are an ensemble cast featuring Tilda Swinton, Bill Hader, Colin Quinn, LeBron James, Marisa Tomei, and several others.
The former WWE champion received good reviews for his work on the movie, reviews that were also echoed by the director and the lead star herself who both said that he was extremely funny and got more laughs out of anyone.
Trainwreck is a Universal Pictures movie and had a budget of $35 million. It is not expected to take the top spot in the box office chart as Marvel’s Ant-Man is anticipated for the #1 position. Estimates are that Trainwreck will get around $25 million in its opening weekend.
Sports Illustrated’s Extra Mustard section has a very interesting interview with Devon Hughes and Mark LoMonaco, the duo better known as Team 3D and the Dudley Boyz.
In this interview, the duo wonder why they’re still not back in the WWE despite Bully Ray just recently returning to TNA television full time.
“For us not to be back there, knowing that we’re in the best shape we’ve ever been in, I don’t understand it,” said D-Von. “We’re better now than we were ten or fifteen years ago.
His tag team partner and now the on-screen man in charge at TNA Wrestling said that if you add the Dudley Boyz to the WWE tag team division you will instantly add credibility to the division. Calling the Dudley Boyz back in WWE “best for business,” the former TNA champion is still unsure why they are not signed back.
“The great thing about the Dudleys is we can work with any team and we can work any style. Not only will we help one team get over and learn and get better, but we can help all of them. It seems pretty simple to me – having the Dudleys back in the WWE is best for business, so I don’t have a really great answer for why we are not there. Only they know,” he added.
The two acknowledged that returning to the WWE may never happen, but then used the old wrestling saying of “never say never,” noting that it “could be right around the corner.”
Bully Ray said it was great to go back to the WWE for the Rumble and couldn’t say enough good things about how much fun he had. He said he loved the fact that he was out there only for a few minutes because that leaves fans wanting for more.
As for D-Von? He never got the call to go back at the Rumble. “It was a little bit of a slap in the face,” he said.
Reaching out to Justin Barrasso, the man who conducted the interview for Sports Illustrated, we asked when was this interview done considering Ray just returned full time to TNA.
“Just a few days ago,” Barrasso replied. “They’re available if the right offer is presented,” he said, suggesting that Ray might not be working under a TNA contract.
It was announced yesterday night at NXT that popular Japanese wrestler Justin “Thunder” Liger will be appearing at the NXT Takeover: Brooklyn event on the eve of SummerSlam, live from the Barclays Center on the WWE Network.
“Running out of reasons not to get a ticket…. #FutureIsNow,” wrote Triple H on his Twitter after the announcement was made public. The high-flying Liger will be wrestling Tyler Breeze.
Liger works for New Japan Pro Wrestling and NJPW will have some of its roster participating at the ROH show which runs on the same night as Takeover in a different part of Brooklyn. Weeks ago there were rumors that WWE and Ring Of Honor will be working together on some projects although it’s unclear if this move is the beginning of their working relationship.
Despite his popularity, Liger never wrestled for the WWE, however he had two stints with WCW, one between 1991 and 1992 and the other between 1995 and 1999. He later wrestled for TNA between 2005 and 2006.
WWE Hall of Famer Adam “Edge” Copeland has landed a role in the second season of The CW’s The Flash. He will play Atom Smasher according to ComicBook.com which got the exclusive.
Edge will be appearing on the season premiere which is currently being filmed. The CW described his character as one of the most powerful enemies this season and Atom Smasher has arrived to kill The Flash. “His incredible strength and ability to grow to enormous size makes him more than a match for Flash and the entire S.T.A.R. Labs team will have to come together to find a way to defeat him.”
This is not his first time on a television series as Edge played the character of Dwight Hendrickson on SyFy’s Haven.
“So this is happening! Another one off the bucket list,” he wrote on Twitter. ”Keeping that secret was tough!”
Kurt Angle is back in hospital following complications from his recent neck surgery that removed a benign tumor.
A message posted by Kurt Angle’s management team on his Twitter said that Angle was experiencing severe pain and lost feeling in his extremities yesterday as well as difficulty breathing. His wife rushed the former WWE and TNA champion to hospital where doctors found a large buildup of fluid on his spinal cord.
“Since the condition could be fatal, they immediately underwent emergency surgery to relieve the pressure on his spine,” the statement said. A full recovery is expected.
Angle was preparing to fly to London to appear at the Comic Con this weekend but obviously that has been canceled.
Kurt underwent neck surgery just seven days ago in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a surgery which was performed by his long time doctor Dr. Jho.
