End Of Raw.

Reporter’s Rumblings – By Moe Tapp

This was another pretty-good Raw, with a couple awesome matches, and a couple cool surprises! It did have it’s negative side too, which I will look at as always, so onto the analysis:

Excellence: WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins; he is making the perfect “cowardly but yet will sneak out of anything” type champion/heel, both with his verbal confrontations with Kane, and his actions in the ring of always trying to or actually sneaking away.

I was a little caught-off-guard by The New Day being involved with Orton and Reigns, but it worked, and glad they even got the somewhat-clean win; it is much-needed to continue to build their new personality.

Loved the surprise returns of Bret and Tamina; particular glad that Tamina is back and going to add more to the division. I liked Naomi’s look too this week, and she reminds me of former Diva Jacqueline. Also, liking the slow Lana face-turn; even though I could’ve done without Rusev/Fandango match, it was a good setup to continue Lana to get pops.

The build to the main-event of Payback was well done overall, and glad to have Ambrose in there as well, since this will make us questions if/how Seth will get out of this with his title in tact. (He should, and have a long reign.)

Fantastic match between Zayn and Cena! However, I hope that Sami is not seriously hurt, as he’s been having a great feud with NXT Champion Kevin Owens and they will do battle for that championship on May 20, which I am looking very forward too!

Bogus: Stardust/Rhodes was just a time-filler and nothing special. As well, unfortunately, I felt that Reigns/Orton was boring and too predictable when The Authority was out; I knew it would end up in a big beat-down. Lastly, while I know it will be a very physical match, I’m not quite sure about the Wyatt/Ryback feud yet. Both promos were good, but it seems Bray’s reasons have been the same for the last little while.

All-in-all, I enjoyed Raw! Until next week, when we will be just six nights away from Payback, Be Excellent Wrestling-Online Readers and Wrestling Fans!

Roman Reigns subject of the WWE 24 series tonight

The WWE 24 series returns tonight with its third episode on the WWE Network titled Roman Reigns: Never Alone.

Tonight’s Reigns episode will feature a look at the former Shield member as he prepares to main event WrestleMania 31 against Brock Lesnar, a main event he was tipped to win until plans changed and Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase, pinning Reigns to become the new WWE World Heavyweight champion.

This fantastic series has already looked behind the scenes at WrestleMania 30 and the rise of Booker T and it looks like it will be a monthly affair. The new episode premieres right after Monday Night Raw.

Triple H’s tweet to Mayweather causes Michelle Beadle to “turn in” her WWE fan card

Triple H’s support of Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather has ‘turned off’ ESPN journalist Michelle Beadle from being a WWE following a tweet Triple H sent out to Mayweather after his win against Manny Pacquiao.

“I’ve loved @WWE for a long time. But @TripleH and his love for a serial abuser is too much. I’m turning in my fan card. #WasFunWhileItLasted,” Beadle wrote on Twitter.

Beadle was angry that her press credentials for the fight were pulled by Mayweather’s camp but Kelly Swanson, a spokeswoman for Mayweather Promotions, said that Beadle still had her credentials after HBO reinstated them after a ‘miscommunication.’ Beadle left the city before HBO re-approved them, thus missing the event.

When a fan asked Beadle on Twitter if this is all about the credentials, Beadle responded, “No. They’ve given me great seats to amazing events over the years. I’m grateful. But I’m also done now.“

The Triple H tweet in question read, “@FloydMayweather WOW….. Just WOW. Masterful !!!!! #TMT  #TBE  #48and0 Congratulations.”

Triple H and Mayweather are friends and the former WWE champion has walked out to the ring with Mayweather before. Besides, Mayweather is a friend of the WWE and has been part of WrestleMania 24 in one of the biggest matches on the card against the Big Show.

Beadle is a long-time WWE fan and just recently hosted the interview with Brock Lesnar on ESPN where Lesnar announced that he’s retiring from MMA for good and that he has signed a new deal with WWE.

TNA returning to pay-per-view after 8 months with Slammiversary

After an absence of eight months, TNA wrestling will be returning to pay-per-view for Slammiversary, announced for Sunday, June 28.

The event is booked to take place at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, and it will be the first live pay-per-view for TNA since the Bound For Glory show in Japan.

Bound For Glory was “different” from previous pay-per-views and featured collaboration from Wrestle-1. TNA had already taped Impact episodes past the pay-per-view and created some weird situations with title belts for those who had already read the spoilers or attended the tapings.

Review: WWE The Ultimate Poster Collection book

There have been some epic WWE pay-per-view posters throughout the years – and some pretty bad ones too – but the WWE Ultimate Poster Collection published by  Insight Editions isolates 30 of the very best designs that have been used to promote the particular pay-per-view events. The book contains 40 removable posters in total, 30 of which are of pay-per-views. Each poster is 16” by 12” and is printed on a thick, glossy paper.

The pay-per-view posters available are Royal Rumble 1991, Royal Rumble 2013, WrestleMania VI, WrestleMania VII, WrestleMania X-Seven, WrestleMania XXVI, WrestleMania XVIII, WrestleMania XXX, SummerSlam 1999, SummerSlam 2012, Invasion, Judgment Day 2005,  Judgment Day 2007, Judgment Day 2008, Backlash 2006, Backlash 2007, Backlash 2008, No Mercy 2006, New Year’s Revolution 2007, No Mercy 2007, One Night Stand 2008, Armageddon 2008, Extreme Rules 2010, Hell In A Cell 2010, Vengeance 2011, No Way Out 2012, Night Of Champions 2012, Survivor Series 2009, Survivor Series 2013, and Elimination Chamber 2014.

Apart from pay-per-view posters, there are 10 other posters.

Posters of individual Superstars include Andre The Giant, Sting, Ultimate Warrior, and Steve Austin. There’s also a poster of Hogan and Andre in a face off and a poster from the Attitude Era featuring the roster of perhaps the best period in pro wrestling history.

There are three other posters which have the card of particular events. One is a non-televised event from Madison Square Garden which was headlined by Bruno Sammartino vs Freddie Blassie, one from WrestleMania I, and another one from a non-televised show at the Aloha Stadium headlined by Hulk Hogan vs Ric Flair.

The other remaining poster is a cool one, the Stars and Stripes Challenge from the 4th of July, 1993, event aboard the USS Intrepid featuring Yokozuna.

All in all this is a neat book and if you’re into posters then it’s certainly for you. Perhaps the only downside is posters are printed back to back so you can only use one from each page.

The WWE Ultimate Poster Collection has a retail regular price of $24.99. You can get more information and order it online at http://www.insighteditions.com.

Hulk Hogan planning on wrestling at WrestleMania 32 in Dallas

During the press conference in Australia, WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan said that he plans on wrestling at WrestleMania 32 in Dallas, Texas.

Addressing the fans, Hogan said that Vince McMahon agreed to let Hulk lace up his wrestling boots one more time as long as he passes the physical test that everyone has to go through before stepping in the ring.

“Next year they’re trying to top my indoor attendance record,” Hogan said, referring to WrestleMania III in Detroit.

He said he saw Vince in the hallway one day during the WrestleMania 31 weekend and told him, “There’s no way you’ll run WrestleMania next year without Hulk Hogan on the card.”

Hogan told the audience that Vince shook his hand and said, “I’ll look forward to it.” Hogan added that it could be the start of another run or his retirement match.

Neville surprises 11 year old kid on Meredith Vieira show

WWE Superstar Neville appeared on the Meredith Vieira show to give a huge surprise to an 11 year old kid who helped his mom catch a burglar in their home.

The kid, Ethan, and his mom were explaining how an intruder went into their house and while the mom was fighting with the man to protect her son, Ethan ran for the phone and dialed 911, giving the dispatcher all the information while staying calm. Police eventually arrived and apprehended the intruder and Ethan received the 911 For Kids Hero award and was also honored by his school.

Ethan now has problems staying in the house due to the events and he said one thing that distracts him from remembering the event is by watching WWE. Meredith Vieira asked him if he has a favorite Superstar and he said it’s Adrian Neville. Vieira told him that WWE heard about his story and decided to send him a gift basket with slime toys and a bunch of merchandise.

Delivering the merchandise was none other than Neville himself, and when Ethan saw him, his jaw dropped and then gave Neville a long big hug.

“Your bravery and courage would put any WWE Superstar to shame, I’m very proud you,” Neville said. Asked how he’s feeling, the kid said he was about to faint!

Stephanie McMahon opens up on LIVE! with Chris Jericho Network podcast

Stephanie McMahon was the special guest on LIVE! with Chris Jericho yesterday on the WWE Network, with the billion dollar princess attending the show after the company’s staff party, a party which Jericho said he never knew existed after 15 years working there.

Stephanie revealed she was off WWE television for the past few weeks as she was in China and Singapore as part of the Eisenhower fellowship and she will be going somewhere else later in the year. Steph said she had to “educate” or as she put it – defend – the WWE before she was selected.

Jericho brought up how WWE is still largely a family business and Steph recounted her several jobs from the age of 14 up until now. She also discussed having Vince as her father and her boss at the same time and told a story once about Vince sending her and Shane back out to reshoot a segment in front of the Boston crowd during the Invasion angle period.

Steph talked about growing up with the wrestlers and how the Killer Bees and Tito Santana were her favorite but she liked the heels more. She talked about her friendship with Andre The Giant and said she wasn’t a Hulk Hogan fan when she was a kid.

The subject of her dating Triple H was then brought up and Vince first sort of approved but then he pulled the plug on it and it took a year for her and HHH to get back together. A one-on-one discussion with her mother kinda smoothed things out and the rest is history.

Jericho then mentioned all the stuff he and Steph did on television and how she was always mocked by him. She said she doesn’t mind looking like a fool as long as they payoff is there. Jericho went over some skits the two did together especially when she had a giant zit on her nose that was impossible to ignore and the Planet of the Apes segment, a segment that came about simply because Vince loved apes.

The breast enhancement topic came next and Steph didn’t shy away from it, laughing with Jericho at all the things he said to her at the time. Jericho bought up the segment he and Rocky did with her, Rhyno, and Booker T which ended with Rock calling Booker a “motherf*****” live on Raw. Steph had to cut him off before he said the actual word but she mistimed it and Rock went ahead anyway and she explained how he got in trouble backstage with Vince for saying that word on television.

Steph went over her famous slaps and she said she never slapped anyone harder than The Rock at WrestleMania 31. She said she felt pretty bad but it was a great segment. Jericho said that Steph threw some nasty slaps and Steph blamed it on the boys for teaching her how to do it.

The discussion turned to Ronda Rousey and Steph said she’s a big fan of her and that segment with Rousey was her WrestleMania moment. She said Rousey is a role model and would love if there’s a match between the two but they don’t know what’s going to happen.

The #GiveDivasAChance movement was mentioned and Jericho even said that AJ called out McMahon on Twitter for congratulating Patricia Arquette on her equality speech. Steph said that she had to respond diplomatically to AJ but was proud that AJ had the guts to speak her mind.

Steph said that she was proud to be in the final segment with Vickie Guerrero before she retired and said that Vickie was the first one to get one over her since she returned on television. Steph said she was getting goosebumps just talking about it and how great it was for Vickie to leave with Eddie’s theme.

Asked about her favorite match and moment, she said it was with Brie at SummerSlam because she came back wrestling after 11 years and her three kids were there watching her. Fighting back tears, she said when she went backstage her daughters were there chanting “you still got it,” even though they didn’t know what it meant but it meant a lot to her. She said her 8 year old is really interested in being a WWE Diva and that she liked the heels more as Jericho wondered where that might have come from!

Dean Cain and the Big Show are the stars of this thriller, a movie directed by the Soska sisters Jen and Sylvia.

The movie is about a detective pushed beyond his limits who will stop at nothing for vengeance. When his wife is killed by a criminal that he put away, Mason (Cain), a hard-nosed detective, deliberately gets arrested to get revenge. While inside, Mason discovers a new criminal enterprise that those behind it would kill to protect.

Vendetta is a collaboration between WWE Studios and Lionsgate and is rated R.

Hulk Hogan to serve as “general manager” during WWE tour in Australia

Hulk Hogan will be touring with the WWE crew in August as they visit Down Under for a three day tour and acting as the “general manager” for the duration of the time in Australia.

Hulk is currently in Australia doing promotional work for the company and attended the press conference yesterday that announced his involvement. Fellow Hall of Famer Jimmy Hart is accompanying Hogan during these few days in Australia.

WWE will be holding shows in Brisbane on August 6, Melbourne on August 7, and Sydney on August 8.

Mayweather vs Big Show special on WWE Network tonight

With perfect timing for the Mayweather vs Pacquiao boxing match tomorrow, the WWE Network will be airing a special on the Floyd Mayweather vs Big Show angle which led to a match between the two at WrestleMania 24.

Titled “Floyd Mayweather vs The Big Show: The Money vs The Giant,” the one hour broadcast will recount how the story started and goes behind the scenes in the making of one of WrestleMania 24’s main events.

Mayweather is a huge WWE fan and has had Triple H walk with him for boxing matches before. Speaking of Triple H, he said that he will be in Las Vegas tomorrow to support his friend and if he’s asked he will accompany Mayweather to the ring as well.

Pay-Per-View buys for Rumble, Fastlane, and Mania

While the WWE Network is only $9.99 and available throughout most of the world, some people still prefer to see pay-per-views in a traditional way despite the steep price of $44.95.

For the first quarter of 2015, WWE’s three pay-per-views still did a fair share of traditional PPV buys, especially Royal Rumble and WrestleMania. The Royal Rumble did 145,000 buys while Fastlane, which was free for new subscribers in February managed an additional 46,000 buys. WrestleMania 31 did 259,000 in addition to all the Network views.

All these pay-per-view buys gave WWE an extra $9 million during the first quarter.

Stephanie McMahon on Jericho’s podcast on WWE Network tonight

Chris Jericho’s podcast LIVE! with Chris Jericho returns tonight for the second time in a month on the WWE Network and will feature Stephanie McMahon as his guest.

Jericho took over Steve Austin with his podcast on the Network and started earlier this month with the United States champion John Cena as his first guest. Stephanie and Jericho had a long history together on WWE television usually filled with insults and jokes although we’re pretty sure tonight will be different!

The interview with the WWE’s Chief Brand Officer airs right after Smackdown goes off the air.

Dixie Carter on Steve Austin’s podcast next week

TNA President Dixie Carter will be a special guest on Stone Cold Steve Austin’s podcast next week on PodcastOne.

This is not the first time that Austin has landed someone from TNA on his show but this certainly is his biggest “catch.” With rumors of his relationship with WWE being not so great, the timing of this certainly raised some eyebrows.

“Had a blast talking to my fellow Texan @SteveAustinBSR in LA today for his podcast,” Carter tweeted along with a photo of the two smiling for the camera. The interview is set to air on Tuesday.

Only 3 WWE departments register a decrease in revenues for Q1 2015

When comparing each business segment to the prior year quarter, only three departments – Home Entertainment, Digital Media, and WWE Studios – generated lower income. The rest, including Network, TV rights, merchandise, live events, etc, all were in the black although it’s mostly thanks to the timing of WrestleMania 31 which this year fell in the first quarter.

Among the winners, Network and PPV revenues increased by 104% over the prior year quarter with WWE Network generating $28.6 million in revenue based on 927,000 subscribers while PPV revenue contributed $9.0 million with 505,000 buys; Television increased 43% to %58.2 million due to new TV agreements; Live events increased 81% to $39.3 million due to the addition of WrestleMania in the quarter. North America live events did $38.3 million an increase of 68% while International live events did $1 million from 3 events in the quarter; Licensing increased 18% to $16.5 million; Venue merchandise went up 68% to $8.4 million once again thanks to WrestleMania which did $3.3 million on its own; WWEShop.com revenues went up to $5.3 million, a 26% increase.

Looking at those in the red, Home Entertainment including DVD and Blu Ray decreased to $4.7 million, a 43% decline; Digital media went down to $4.3 million from $6.7 million; WWE Studios went down to $1.5 million from $4.3 million. WWE Studios’ movie portfolio had a $400,000 loss compared to an income of $1.6 million in the prior year quarter.

WWE Network statistics for the first quarter of 2015

The WWE Network will once again be free in the month of May for new subscribers and it will also include the Payback pay-per-view, making it the second month in a row that WWE offered the Network for free for new subscribers and the third month in 2015 offer this deal.

The Network had 1,327,000 subscribers by March 31, 2015, and interestingly enough only 196,000 of them are International subscribers although that number had a footnote added to it saying that subscriber numbers in the UK and Ireland are subject to local consumer protection laws.

The company added 511,000 subscribers in the quarter and they have an average of approximately 927,000 paid subscribers for the for Q1 2015. Average paid subscribers are calculated based on the

WWE reports Q1 2015 financial results

WWE today announced their Q1 2015 financial results, with a reported Net income of $9.8 million, compared to a Net loss of $8.0 million in the first quarter last year.

“During the quarter, we generated record quarterly revenue and strong earnings growth, reflecting our strategy to realize greater value from our content across multiple platforms,” said WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon. “We believe that we are on a path to significant growth as we continue to expand WWE Network and innovate faster than ever.”

Company stocks went up to $15.44 per share thanks to strong premarket trading but they quickly fell off in the high $13’s an hour later.

“Our strong earnings growth was driven primarily by the escalation of our television rights fees and the expansion of WWE Network subscribers. For the quarter, our OIBDA surpassed our public guidance,” added George Barrios, Chief Strategy & Financial Officer. “WWE Network subscribers watched an estimated average of 53 hours of content per household over the quarter putting it among Netflix and the top cable and broadcast networks in terms of viewer hours per household. Additionally, WrestleMania 31 was viewed in more homes globally than ever before. Our ability to engage our global fan base reinforces our view that successful execution of our WWE Network strategy can generate meaningful economic returns.”
