WrestleMania XXXVII Pick’em Report for Night One

Well, well, well…we are finally here. IT’S WRESTLEMANIA!!! Hello everyone, this is @TheMagnumDA bringing you NIGHT ONE of the WrestleMania XXXVII Pick’em report. Tonight, the devastating WOPC Champion (Brother Bull) faces the toughest challenge ANYONE has had to face in Pick’em history: He will have SIX different challengers – in addition to myself and Colin, please welcome The Renegade, Tricky Don, Heel Turn Tom, and our newest challenger KPC-123! We will be combining the scores of each night, and the player with the highest score will be the NEW WOPC Champion…and yes, there is a belt. Check my Twitter! Bull’s wearing it proudly right now! Also, don’t forget…if there’s a first-place tie at the top, the Champion retains his title regardless of his score! Finally, if you hear rumblings of a “V-Card”, we’re referring to the jinx that typically follows a wrestler in their first WrestleMania. Will that happen tonight? Time will tell!

Without further ado, ON WITH THE PICKS FOR NIGHT ONE!!

Bad Bunny and Damian Priest vs. The Miz and John Morrison

Brother Bull: Bad Bunny & Priest Win…I know it’s Priest’s V-Card, but that rule might get broke again, right?

Heel Turn Tom: I normally don’t like celebrities in the match taking away a spot from a regular performer. Hopefully Bad Bunny has trained a lot and looks decent as he will get the pin on the Miz. Bad Bunny and Damian Priest win the match.

Tricky Don: From Mr. T and WrestleMania to present day, the celebrity debut at mania has been advantageous for Lawrence Taylor, Floyd Mayweather, and Snooki. In fact, John Morrison was instrumental for a Snooki victory. John Morrison will inadvertently help Bad Bunny get his first win. Bad Bunny and Damian Priest win it.

The Renegade: I’m on Team Bad Bunny – Priest and Bunny win it.

KPC-123: Since everyone is throwing shade at Miz and Morrison, I’m going to show them some love. Miz and Morrison win it!

Colin: I don’t think Bunny moved to Orlando and busted his ass for three months to lose at WrestleMania, did he? I appreciate the dedication though, that’s one celebrity who I didn’t know about before but one who I respect for taking his involvement seriously. This match should be for the highlight reel and to make Priest the star. No other result in my opinion, so Bunny and Priest win.

Magnum: I read something about BB really trying his best to learn the craft, and he wants to earn the respect of the other wrestlers. I’ll give him props for that. Usually, in these situations, the celebrity goes over…I’m hoping that Morrison and Priest are healthy enough to compete! This could be a lot more entertaining than people think…I’ll take the Bunny and Priest for the win.

WWE Raw Tag Team Championship
The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) (c) vs. AJ Styles and Omos

Brother Bull: Styles & Omos Win…And NEW!!! Styles goes from dying one year to tag champ the next, welcome to midcard hell!

Heel Turn Tom: This seems like a last-minute thought of how to use the New Day and AJ and Omos. A tag team title win would make AJ a triple crown title holder and due to his size, I bet WWE wants to use Omos more. I see Omos hitting his finisher on Xavier for the win.

Tricky Don: With the debut of Omos, tonight we will find out if he knows a wristlock from a wrist watch. I feel the height of Omos will be a repeat of the Giant Gonzalez debut from Wrestlemania 9. They will keep him strong, but will lose by DQ. Either way, the New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) retain.

The Renegade: I like the AJ/Omos team – they’ll win the titles.

KPC-123: I want the New Day to retain – it would be an upset, but I think they’ll do it!

Colin: I am way over it with The New Day being champions. It’s unfortunate that AJ Styles is stuck in this match to be honest. Hopefully Omos will show us some good stuff being his debut match. No pressure, no pressure. I think we’re going to have new tag champs. AJ and Omos for the win!

Magnum: V-CARD ALERT!! This is Omos’ first WrestleMania…but since he’s in a tag team match, he could still win without being involved in the decision. It’s weird…I don’t want to pick Styles and Omos, but I also don’t want to pick against them. I’m sure that AJ will be able to carry the load for his team, at least until Omos is ready to break out on his own. For this special one-time occasion, I’m going to go against the V-Card rule and pick Styles and Omos.

Steel Cage Match
Braun Strowman vs. Shane McMahon

Brother Bull: Shane is going to get the complete shit kicked out of him and Win…that’s right, he’ll win on some technicality of getting thrown through cage. Here Comes The Money!

Heel Turn Tom: Shane will take a big bump of the top of the cage. I bet Braun will knock off a cage wall. But in the end Shane will get these hands and Braun wins and gets his revenge.

Tricky Don: We have all read that this will be the first WrestleMania without HHH, Undertaker, Goldberg, Lesnar, and Cena. I guess we did not factor in Shane would still find a spot on the card. I think it is safe to bet we will see the high spot of the night in this cage match. Braun Strowman has some major momentum after winning he last year’s Andre the Giant memorial battle royal last eliminating Colin Jost and winning the tag team titles at 34 with Nicholas. Who can stop this momentum? No one! Braun Strowman wins.

The Renegade: I don’t know how, but Shane wins it.

KPC-123: The big bad Braun destroys Shane and wins this match.

Colin: What crazy stunt will Shane do this time around? The dude’s 51 years old and probably needs to tone down the craziness. Braun has to win here and get his revenge.

Magnum: Steel Cage?! Come on…go balls out and do Hell in a Cell! Anyways, this is another weird one, because they could stretch this thing out another show or two (as much as I don’t want them to). If they decide to stretch it out, that means the heel is going to take the first chapter. Also, of note: Braun doesn’t have to be pinned to lose this match. I want to believe that this is an easy decision (Braun wins in a squash), but it’s really not that simple. As crazy as it sounds, give me Shane McMahon to pull off the major upset. They’ll probably rip off the JBL/Big Show finish from No Way Out 2005 (Show slams JBL through the ring, JBL crawls outside before Show escapes the cage).

Cesaro vs. Seth Rollins

Brother Bull: I am a card carrying member of the Cesaro Section, however…Seth wins this match in what could be the show stealer of Night 1.

Heel Turn Tom: This will be match of night one. I feel like Cesaro should have had a main event push years ago and I don’t know if that will start tonight. I see Davenport’s own Seth Rollins will win and work his way back into the main event.

Tricky Don: I have to pick Rollins, and here is why. Every WrestleMania Rollins has performed at; he has picked up a victory. Seven wins including victories over Lesnar and HHH. Great chance this will be match of the night!

The Renegade: Rollins has this one in the bag – The Messiah is back, baby!

KPC-123: I gotta go with Rollins too – this will be a great match!

Colin: This could be match of the night possibly. It’s time for Cesaro to step up and run with the ball. The question is if they’re going to give him the damn ball. A win for the Swiss Cyborg would do a lot for him. Seth doesn’t “need” the win so to speak so I’m picking Cesaro.

Magnum: I’m personally looking forward to this one. Cesaro has needed an opportunity like this for a long time, and it looks like he’s finally going to get it. I’m not sure what the future holds for Rollins, but a loss right here wouldn’t hurt him at all. I like Cesaro’s chances…and I think we could see the longest “Cesaro Swing” of all time on Saturday. Give me Cesaro for the win!

#1 Contender’s Tag Team Turmoil Match
Lana and Naomi vs. Dana Brooke and Mandy Rose vs. The Riott Squad (Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott) vs. Natalya and Tamina vs. Billie Kay & Carmella

Brother Bull: If The Riott Squad doesn’t win, I’ll riot.

Heel Turn Tom: Just a guess but I am going to go with Lana and Naomi to win and get the titles tomorrow.

Tricky Don: Picking the last team added – Billie Kay and Carmella.

The Renegade: They’re flying under the radar, but I like Dana Brooke and Mandy Rose in this one.

KPC-123: I agree with Don – I am going to pick the last team brought in the match…Billie Kay and Carmella!

Colin: Hm, still undecided between Lana and Naomi and Natalya and Tamina for this one. On one hand, I want to see Lana twice on my TV. On the other hand, I think Nattie and Tamina would be better opponents for the tag champs. But Lana is still waiting for her shot at the titles and I think the revenge is coming. Lana and Naomi to advance.

Magnum: I’m glad that these tag teams have a spot on the WrestleMania card – they all deserve to be there! However, for the purposes of storyline continuity, you’ve gotta believe that Lana and Naomi will want some revenge on Jax and Baszler. Will they win the titles? Maybe. Maybe not. Will they win this match, though? I believe so! Give me Lana and Naomi to win it.

WWE Championship
Bobby Lashley (c) (with MVP) vs. Drew McIntyre

Brother Bull: This is such a slam dunk, right? It’s not. Alot of variables go into this one. Spot on the show, Night 1, hints at Lashley retaining. Just wanna say, IF Lashley retains, he gets help from Keith Lee. But Drew will win and get another WrestleMania Moment!!!

Heel Turn Tom: I feel it would be way too early for Bobby’s reign to end but I feel like WWE may want to give Drew his moment in front of some size of crowd. So tonight, Drew gets to celebrate his win with some cheers.

Tricky Don: With a huge crowd back, Drew will win the title again this year with a great crowd reaction.

The Renegade: I am gonna roll with Bobby Lashley to retain in an upset.

KPC-123: A lot of people are picking Drew, and so am I! Drew becomes the new Champion.

Colin: Drew McIntyre should be the first person out of that Gorilla Position on Saturday. Not Hulk Hogan, not Titus O’Neil as hosts…but Drew f’n McIntyre. He was robbed of that moment last year so he should be the first face fans see. And I expect a huge entrance. Bagpipes and all. If this match is opening the show, I’m gonna say Lashley wins. If this match is closing the show, Drew wins. Lashley as champion has been good so I’m guessing Lashley will win, with support, hopefully, from The Hurt Business who are reunited.

Magnum: Going into the week, I started to believe that Bobby could possibly retain the title…then I put things in perspective: Drew was supposed to have this moment last year. He patiently waited for an entire year, and this is finally his chance to win the title in front of a live crowd. I have to take Drew here – as much as I want Bobby to retain (because I think he’s just getting started as a great Main Event heel), it’s Drew’s moment.

WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship
Sasha Banks (c) vs. Bianca Belair

Brother Bull: Sasha Banks is so good in this role and Bianca Belair is a virgin…a WrestleMania Virgin! V-Card rule applies here – see Rhea Ripley last year. Banks retains!!!

Heel Turn Tom: This will be a great match to watch. Sasha puts on great matches and I think Belair is up to that level too. But tonight, I see Bianca getting the best of the match and winning the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship.

Tricky Don: I know Bianca is favored to win this match, but I have to go with Sasha. With Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey possibly coming back, one would have to believe they would want to keep Sasha strong to face Becky or Ronda. Sasha Banks retains.

The Renegade: It’s Bianca Belair’s time – she becomes the new Women’s Champion.

KPC-123: I’m with Renegade – this is Bianca Belair’s match to lose. She’s going to be the new champion!

Colin: I hope/wish this is the main event. They deserve it and it would be cool to have the women close another WrestleMania. Everyone knows how much I like Banks but it’s time to pull the trigger and let Belair lead the division. She’s more than capable of doing just that. New champ.

Magnum: I know, I know…Vegas says Belair. The blogs and Twitter threads say Belair. What does Magnum say? V-CARD ALERT!! This is Belair’s first WrestleMania, and it’s Sasha’s sixth…and guess what? Sasha is winless at Mania coming into this show. That’s going to change right MEOW. Sasha retains and FINALLY survives a WrestleMania with a championship victory.

Well, there you have it fans! That concludes NIGHT ONE of the WrestleMania XXXVII Pick’em Report – we’ll see you tomorrow night for NIGHT TWO!! Will a new WOPC Champion be crowned?! Come on back to W-O tomorrow to find out!! @TheMagnumDA signing off.
