WrestleMania 38 Night One PPV Pick’em report

Hey everybody! It’s @TheMagnumDA here with your NIGHT ONE PPV Pick’em report for WrestleMania 38! This is easily the best time of the year – the time where the best matches and celebrity appearances come together for the biggest night in professional wrestling. Over the next two nights, four prestigious contenders (WO’s Colin Vassallo, Heel Turn Tom, Brother Bull, and The Renegade) will challenge yours truly for the WOPC Championship. It’s been a wild year with the WOPC Championship, and we have finally decided to settle it all on the biggest stage: WRESTLEMANIA!!!

With that, ON WITH THE PICKS for Night One!!!

Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio vs. The Miz and Logan Paul
Bonus Question #1: Who scores the winning pinfall?

Heel Turn Tom: Towards the end of the match, The Miz and Paul will argue and Logan will throw a punch or something on the Miz to lead to the Mysterios winning the match with Dominik pinning The Miz.

Brother Bull: Gotta think Miz/Paul here…hopefully Zombies show up and eat The Miz. Logan Paul gets the fall after a miscommunication between Mysterios.

Colin: I understand why they brought in Logan Paul. The dude has a huge following, but wrestling fans give him the X-Pac heat. I’m sure he’s gonna hold up his own in this match and might surprise a few people. Last year he was on the receiving end of a Stunner, and this year he will get a 619 to the face. Mysterios win with Rey getting the decisive pin.

Renegade: I’ll take the team of Paul and Miz, with Logan Paul getting the deciding fall.

Magnum: I actually think this is one of the harder matches to pick – I want to believe that the celebrity appearance usually leads to a win. That said, Logan’s been waiting to turn on The Miz for some time. Give me The Mysterios to win, with Dominik getting a huge pin on The Miz.

Drew McIntyre vs. Happy Corbin (with Madcap Moss)

Heel Turn Tom: It will be sad Corbin after a Claymore kick and three-count for the McIntyre win.

Brother Bull: Drew McIntyre in hopefully a squash!

Colin: Yawn. Drew goes from a WWE Championship match against Bobby Lashley at last year’s WrestleMania to a match against Happy Corbin. Good God. I can’t wait for this to be over and nothing against Corbin personally, but Drew should be in a better position. Anyway, rant over. Drew wins.

Renegade: I’m going to have to take Drew McIntyre here for the win.

Magnum: Let me first take a moment to congratulate the madcrapper himself, Madcap Moss on winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. I’m telling you, Vince loves that guy. As for Corbin? This is the beginning of the end of his happy times. Drew’s going to destroy him.

The Usos (Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso) (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura and Rick Boogs
Bonus Question #2: Who scores the winning pinfall?

Heel Turn Tom: With the Bloodline storyline still going on, I don’t see how you could take the titles of The Usos. Jey Uso will hit the splash to get the three count and win on Boogs.

Brother Bull: Shinsuke and Boogs become new champs, Nakamura with the pin.

Colin: I’m waiting for Nakamura to get another singles push. Hell, send him to NXT if need be, but just like Drew, he deserves better. The Usos as part of The Bloodline have been excellent. I’m picking the champs The Usos to retain the titles with Jimmy getting the pin on Boooogs.

Renegade: The Usos are retaining, with Jimmy Uso getting the winning fall.

Magnum: You know, this match was put together on short notice…and it feels like The Usos could afford to lose the titles and still be part of The Bloodline. Maybe this could be the first crack at their armor? Nah. Not tonight. I’ll take The Usos, with Jey Uso getting the winning fall.

The New Day (Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston) vs. Sheamus and Ridge Holland (with Butch)

Heel Turn Tom: I hate the rename of Pete Dunne to Butch. But Butch will interfere to help Sheamus and Ridge Holland the win.

Brother Bull: Sheamus and Ridge find a way to win, prob with Butch’s assistance.

Colin: Another meh of a match. At least do a six-man tag and bring someone else with The New Day and include (poor) Butch in the mix. Not excited about this one to be honest, but I pick Sheamus and Holland for the victory.

Renegade: Sheamus and Ridge will find a way to get the win in this tag match.

Magnum: I’m actually going to roll with The New Day here – there’s something about Big E’s injury that makes me believe that Kofi and Xavier will have an emotional boost.

WWE Raw Women’s Championship
Becky Lynch (c) vs. Bianca Belair

Heel Turn Tom: I feel like WWE will want Becky on Smackdown soon for a feud with Ronda, so I am going with Bianca for the win and new Raw Women’s Champ.

Brother Bull: Becky Lynch…avenges her drive by haircut, and continues in GOD mode.

Colin: Belair still has to get revenge on that 26-second loss. By the way, I still hate they did that. But Big Time Becks has been incredible since her return and being heel just really suits her. Belair is in an incredible position to walk out of WrestleMania with the title twice in a row and I think she will do just that. #ANDNEW, Belair wins.

Renegade: Big Time Becks is retaining – bank on it.

Magnum: I want to believe that Becky is going to have a long title reign, but Bianca has to get that victory back from Summerslam. I’ll take Belair to win the title back.

Seth “Freakin” Rollins vs. ???

Heel Turn Tom: This better be Cody Rhodes in the match. Hopefully Vince has talked to Jim Cornette and has Cody come out of a surprise box because he would be over if he did. Cody or whoever the question mark is will win the match.

Brother Bull: ???, whomever they will be will beat Rollins.

Colin: Can you imagine if it’s anyone else but Cody? The fans will absolutely shit on it. Maybe it’s Shane McMahon after all LOL! No, seriously, WWE never shot down the Cody rumor and did zero effort to move away from those rumors so if this isn’t Cody, all hell is gonna break lose. If it’s Cody, I can’t see him jobbing in his first match…or will he? Nah, if ??? is Cody, then Cody wins. If ??? is Shane (seriously), then Seth wins.

Renegade: I have no idea who the mystery opponent is, but I’ll take them to win it.

Magnum: I’ve heard Cody, I’ve heard The Undertaker, and I’ve heard everything in between, including…ugh…Shane McMahon. Seth wanted his moment? He’s going to get it. I’ll take the Mystery Opponent.

WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship
Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Ronda Rousey

Bonus Question #3: YES or NO – Will this match end in a Submission? If an opponent is knocked out (like Steve Austin at Mania 13), it will not count as a Submission!

Heel Turn Tom: I see Ronda winning this and if she doesn’t why did you bring her back? If Ronda is in prime in-ring condition, this will be match of the night. Ronda will make Charlotte tap out to become the new Smackdown Women’s Championship.

Brother Bull: Ronda wins…expect a long layoff from Charlotte and Charlotte will not tap – she will be KO’d. She will pass out.

Colin: Are you ready for Ronda Rousey to be the champion? There’s no way I see this going any other way. Ronda didn’t bust her ass to get in shape in a few months, win the Rumble, and then lose to Flair. No way. I will buy everyone in AT&T Stadium a drink if that happens. WAIT, no, don’t print that! Definitely expecting Ronda Rousey to win and Charlotte will tap out like a bitch!

Renegade: Ronda’s winning the title, and she will make Charlotte tap out.

Magnum: I’ve gotta believe that this is all leading to Ronda winning the title back. Will she make Charlotte tap out? That’s the part I find interesting…what if Ronda keeps trying to put Flair in a submission, but Charlotte rolls her up for a quick pin? There’s a million ways to go here. I have to believe they’re rolling with Ronda here, and she will make Charlotte tap out.

The KO Show – Kevin Owens vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin
Bonus Question #4: Will KO hit Steve Austin with his own Stunner at some point during their Street Fight?

Heel Turn Tom: If the fight does happen, KO will hit Austin with a Stunner that he will either shake off or no-sell and then Austin will hit his own Stunner to prove his is still the master of the Stunner.

Brother Bull: Yes, KO will give a stunner to SCSA!

Colin: Dude, bring Austin to Dallas and get him on the receiving end of a Stunner? That would be the ultimate heel move. And I don’t think Austin would do that unless he really, really, really, really, really, really likes Kevin Owens a lot. If this is NOT an official match, it makes no sense for that to happen. So me says no.

Renegade: I don’t think that’s happening – KO will not hit the Stunner during this encounter.

Magnum: I think he will try – I think there will be a moment where he goes for it. I am sure Austin would be willing to take one, and don’t get me wrong…there will be a point where KO has the best of Austin. Since KO is limited in what he can hit (no power bombs, no piledrivers, likely no chairshots to the neck or back), so having the Stunner in his arsenal is a must. You know, I’m going to say he will – I don’t think he’ll hit the LAST Stunner, but I would not be surprised if he hit the first.

Alright wrestling fans, that’s going to do it for Night One of WrestleMania 38!! Be sure to join us tomorrow for an update on our scores, as well as our picks for Night Two!! See you tomorrow night!! @TheMagnumDA signing off.
