NXT TakeOver: War Games 2020 PPV Pick’em report

Hello Everybody! It’s @TheMagnumDA here with you for tonight’s PPV Pick’em report. Tonight, we’re going to WAR, as NXT presents Takeover: War Games 2020 on the WWE Network. Tonight, I’ll be putting the WOPC Championship on the line against our very own Colin Vassallo, The One and Only Renegade, and Biggg Brother Bull. Confidence Pool style picks, so anything can happen…but if there’s a tie at the top (in any fashion), the Champ retains! It’s good to be on top, eh?

ON WITH THE PICKS!

Timothy Thatcher vs. Tommaso Ciampa

Colin: Ciampa had the biggest fall from grace since surrendering the NXT title didn’t he? I can’t understand why he hasn’t been used properly since then. Ciampa is one of the best in NXT and should be competing at the top level. Ciampa wins – 5 points.

Renegade: I like Ciampa here – I’ll put 4 points on the pick.

Brother Bull: I’ll put 3 points on Ciampa – he’s going to get back in the title mix soon.

Magnum: I’m seeing a lot of variety in the confidence of picking Ciampa – that’s good! I actually feel very confident about Ciampa here – I’ll take 5 points on him as well.

Triple Threat – NXT North American Championship
Leon Ruff (c) vs. Johnny Gargano vs. Damian Priest

Colin: I think Leon Ruff’s 15 minutes of fame are up. Yeah I get it why they did it, but can’t imagine him keeping it for a long time. Today would be a perfect way to get the title off him, keep Priest strong in the process, but still have Gargano walk out with the North American title. That’s my pick – 2 points on it.

Renegade: I think Ruff continues his string of upsets – 2 points on the pick.

Brother Bull: I feel good about Ruff retaining – I’ll put 4 points on it!

Magnum: This one is really, really tricky – might be the hardest pick of the night. I don’t see how Ruff retains here, but at the same time, I can’t go against him. Priest is chasing – I think the chase continues into the New Year. I’ll say Gargano, but I’m only putting 1 point on it.

Strap Match
Dexter Lumis vs. Cameron Grimes

Colin: A cinematic match, then a blindfold match, now a strap match. What’s next after this one? Anyway, these two have been great in their roles but it’s been dragging on for a while now. If this is the one that ends them all, I predict Dexter Lumis will whip Grimes into oblivion – 3 points on it.

Renegade: I’m going against the grain – I’ll take Cammmmmeron Grimes for 1 point.

Brother Bull: I know that they’re really high on Dexter, so give me Lumis…and I feel good enough to put 5 on it.

Magnum: You’d think Dexter would destroy this guy – Cameron has dodged him at every turn, and even escaped the nightmare of Halloween Havoc. Can Cameron survive this too? No. Lumis wins – 3 points.

Women’s War Games Match
Team Shotzi (Shotzi Blackheart, Ember Moon, Rhea Ripley, and Io Shirai) vs. Team Candice (Candice LeRae, Dakota Kai, Raquel González, and Toni Storm)

Colin: I’m actually looking forward to this match the most. This match should not disappoint. I think Shotzi has a chance of being the next big female star in NXT. Expecting some wicked bumps here. Team Shotzi wins – 4 points.

Renegade: Team Shotzi is absolutely stacked – I’ll pick them for 5 points.

Brother Bull: I’ll take Team Shotzi, but only for 1 point, because anything could happen in this match.

Magnum: I feel great about this pick – Team Shotzi is an all-star line-up…and there’s a lot of revenge in mind here, so expect this to be a total war, but in the end…I’ll put 4 points on Team Shotzi to win.

Men’s War Games Match
The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, Roderick Strong, and Bobby Fish) vs. Team McAfee (Pat McAfee, Pete Dunne, Danny Burch, and Oney Lorcan)

Colin: I wonder what’s gonna happen when The Undisputed Era moves to Raw or Smackdown….who is going to be part of WarGames moving forward?! They’ve been involved in all of the WarGames matches so far! Anyway, I think this feud is far, far from over and the only way to continue it is by having the heels go over. Maybe thanks to an additional member of Team McAfee? Who knows. Somehow, the heels will find a way to get this win – 1 point.

Renegade: I feel pretty good about UE – I’ll take them for 3 points.

Brother Bull: I’ll put 2 points on the Undisputed Era – I think they’ll finally get their first War Games win in three years and have one last great moment together.

Magnum: This is the second most difficult pick of the night. I keep wondering if McAfee’s going to be able to get revenge on UE, or is he going to move on to something else after this. UE have had their asses kicked the last two years, so it’s time they turn the tables. I’ll take the Undisputed Era, and I’ll put 2 points on it. If McAfee’s not careful, the UK boys might turn on him after the match (if they lose).

So here’s the recap:

Colin: 5 – Ciampa
4 – Women’s WarGames (Shotzi)
3 – Lumis
2 – Gargano
1 – Men’s WarGames (Team McAfee)

Renegade: 5 – Women’s WarGames (Shotzi)
4 – Ciampa
3 – Men’s WarGames (Undisputed Era)
2 – Ruff
1 – Cameron Grimes

Brother Bull: 5 – Lumis
4 – Ruff
3 – Ciampa
2 – Men’s WarGames (Undisputed Era)
1 – Women’s WarGames (Shotzi)

Magnum: 5 – Ciampa
4 – Women’s WarGames (Shotzi)
3 – Lumis
2 – Men’s WarGames (Undisputed Era)
1 – Gargano
