2020 WWE TLC PPV Pick’em report

Hey everybody!! It’s @TheMagnumDA with the final PPV Pick’em report of 2020! Tonight, it’s TLC, and after everything we’ve been through, I’m sure people are looking forward to 2021…but we still have one show to go, so it’s time to see if I can end 2020 as the WOPC Champion! The #1 Contender for this Confidence Pool Pick’em? Our very own Colin Vassallo. With that, I say one last time this year…ON WITH THE PICKS!

WWE Raw Tag Team Championship Match
The New Day (c) vs. The Hurt Business (Shelton Benjamin & Cedric Alexander)

Magnum: The Hurt Business have been chasing The New Day the entire season, so it only makes sense that they finally stake their claim at the gold. It’s going to be a really good match, but The Hurt Business are walking out of TLC with the belts. I’ll put two points on it.

Colin: Meh, I’m not really fussed about this match. It’s probably going to be a filler. The New Day needs to go on a hiatus and break up for a little bit. Let’s hope for new champions: The Hurt Business. One point.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Match
Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler (c) vs. Asuka & ???

Magnum: I wonder if this is the end of Lana – there’s this tendency for wrestlers (at the end of their contract) to go on a winning streak, and then get written off out of nowhere. I think Asuka will either bring Lana back in a bait and switch, or this will be a possible NXT call-up, or it could be a huge return. Could get interesting! Either way, as with most mystery partners, there’s going to be new champions. I’ll take Asuka and her partner…Charlotte Flair. I’ll put three points on it.

Colin: Bummed that Lana won’t be in this match. Maybe they bring back a former Superstar to tag with Asuka? Whoever is her partner, Jax and Baszler will win and whenever they lose the title, Lana has to be in that team considering what’s been happening. I’ll put two points on it.

WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship Match
Sasha Banks (c) vs. Carmella

Magnum: I have a lot of confidence in Sasha Banks staying champion for the foreseeable future. That said, they did take some time building up Carmella. But..it kinda fizzled out. I’ll take Banks to retain – I’ll put five points on it.

Colin: This has been Sasha Banks’ year. Well, her and Bayley’s. For me, they carried the promotion when it mattered. Can’t see them taking the title away from Sasha just yet and she’s been on the receiving end of Carmella’s attacks many times over the past few weeks, so payback time. Sasha wins – five points.

Firefly Inferno Match
“The Fiend” Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton

Magnum: I keep thinking that this is Wyatt’s match to win…but then I thought about it…if Orton wears his traditional outfit, there’s not much of him that can catch fire, right? Anyways, Bray on fire would make more sense, though I’m not sure how they get there. Maybe Alexa Bliss? One point for Orton.

Colin: I am assuming this will be a cinematic match? I remember their snooze fest match at WrestleMania, that was one of the worst WWE title matches at a Mania. Hopefully if this will be cinematic, it will make it better. As far as a winner goes, hmm, I’m going for The Fiend. Three points.

WWE Universal Championship – Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match
Roman Reigns (c) vs. Kevin Owens

Magnum: Kevin Owens sold me on this show with his promo to Paul Heyman during Talking Smack. That said, Roman’s in the middle of a major title run, and he’s not going anywhere. I wish there was a better ending than Goldberg, but for right now, Roman Reigns stays the man. Should be a hell of a match. Six points.

Colin: This should be good, really good. The ending of Smackdown on Friday was great and Owens talking to Heyman afterward on Talking Smack was just as good. I’m 100% sure that Reigns will win but Owens will come out looking strong even defeat. Six points.

WWE Championship – Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match
Drew McIntyre (c) vs. AJ Styles

Magnum: This is the match where anything could happen. I think, of all nights, this is the one where The Miz tries to cash in his briefcase. I really like Drew retaining the title during this crazy match, but look for The Miz to find a way to end the show as the WWE Champion. I’ll put four points on Drew.

Colin: I’m all for AJ Styles carrying the WWE title, but I don’t think that will happen tonight. I’m also hoping that we don’t end 2020 with The Miz as champion, although I would not be surprised if they pulled the trigger tonight. But for the purpose of this match, Drew McIntyre wins. Four points.

Well, there you have it! From all of us at W-O, we want to thank you for joining us each month for these pick’ems. The only thing left to do? Let’s get ready to RRRRRRUMBLE in 2021!!! @TheMagnumDA signing off.
