The pro wrestling world, as expected, mourned the death of Hulk Hogan, who passed away at the age of 71 on Thursday morning.

WWE led the line, posting a note on social media just minutes following the TMZ report. The company also created a Remembering Hulk Hogan section on their popular YouTube account and a post on their WWE.COM website.

“WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away. One of pop culture’s most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans,” the statement said.

WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque said that WWE would not be where it is today without the larger-than-life characters that compete in the ring.

“Few, if any, loomed larger than Terry ‘Hulk Hogan’ Bollea,” Triple H wrote. “He was the archetype of what it meant to be a ‘Superstar’ – a global sensation that inspired millions to work hard at whatever it was they wanted to accomplish and a look that made him recognizable to fans around the world.”

He continued, “Hulk Hogan, clad in red and yellow or nWo black and white, was simply put, iconic. As a Real American or the leader of one of the industry’s biggest factions, he transcended and elevated the entire business to heights never before seen – in every country and on every continent. There was no one like The Hulkster and there very well may never be another. My family sends their condolences to his family, friends, and fans.”

TNA President Carlos Silva wrote that he was saddened to learn of the passing of Hulk Hogan. Hogan worked for TNA between 2010 and 2013.

“Hogan’s name was synonymous with professional wrestling, transcending the industry to become an American pop culture fixture. My condolences go out to his fans, friends and family. Rest in peace,” Silva wrote.

The NWA posted, “The National Wrestling Alliance mourns the passing of Terry Bollea, known professionally the world over as Hulk Hogan. On this sad occasion we extend our deepest sympathies to Hulk’s family, friends, and million of fans.”

AEW, who years ago banned Hulk Hogan from attending any of their events, did not publicly comment.

Many of his former colleagues as well as politicians and people from the entertainment industry posted their thoughts on X.

Ric Flair: I am absolutely shocked to hear about the passing of my close friend @HulkHogan! Hulk has been by my side since we started in the wrestling business. An incredible athlete, talent, friend, and father! Our friendship has meant the world to me. He was always there for me even when I didn’t ask for him to be. He was one of the first to visit me when I was in the hospital with a 2% chance of living, and he prayed by my bedside. Hulk also lent me money when Reid was sick. Hulkster, no one will ever compare to you! Rest in peace my friend!

Charlotte Flair: When I nearly lost my dad 8 years ago, one of the few people who was there for all of it was Hulk Hogan. My heart breaks for Nick and Brooke. Rest in peace, brother.

The Miz: “When I was a kid I ate my vitamins, said my prayers because Hulk Hogan told me to. He was someone I looked up to; a larger-than-life presence I copied constantly growing up. The voice, flexing, charisma, he made you want to be bold, loud, confident. RIP, Hulk Hogan.”
