Stephen Amell injured while filming Starz’s wrestling drama Heels

Deadline is reporting that Stephen Amell suffered a back injury while filming the wrestling drama Heels for Starz earlier this week.

“While performing a stunt on the set of Heels this week, Stephen Amell sustained an injury to his back,” a Starz spokesperson said in a statement. “Following a medical evaluation, he is now resting and recovering at home in anticipation of his return to set.”

Deadline adds that an on-set medic attended to Amell following the stunt gone bad and he was also helped by the stunt coordinators.

Despite the injury, production was not affected and filming continues without him for now. Amell was also recently diagnosed with coronavirus and quarantined for two weeks before he was allowed to return to the set of Heels.a

Heels is a story about the men and women who chase their dreams in the world of small-town pro wrestling and is set in a close-knit Georgia community. It follows a family-owned wrestling promotion as two brothers and rivals, Jack Spade and Ace Spade, war over their late father’s legacy.
