Samoa Joe joins the inaugural class of the ROH Hall of Fame

Ring of Honor announced that the Samoa Joe will be inducted into the ROH Hall of Fame, joining the already announced Jay and Mark Briscoe and Bryan Danielson. One more individual will be added to the inaugural class and that will be revealed today week.

Joe has the the longest-reigning ROH World title reign which lasted a whopping 645 days, losing it in late 2004 to Austin Aries. He also held the ROH Pure title once.

The 42-year-old joined ROH in 2002 and spent six years in the promotion and then returned for a brief run in 2015 before he joined WWE.

Joe, who’s currently not signed to any promotion after he was fired – again – by WWE, has not wrestled since August of last year. He had several concussion issues and returned to win the NXT title from Karrion Kross but never managed to defend it as he had to surrender the title before WWE revamped NXT a month later.

Reacting to the news, Joe tweeted that he was “honored.”
