Nikki and Brie Bella were asked about the John Cena heel turn during the Queen of the Ring movie premiere in Los Angeles in an interview by Women’s Wrestling Talk. Nikki obviously was his girlfriend for a few years and Brie spent a lot of time with him as well since he was part of the family for so long.
“About time! About time,” Brie said first. “I’m actually really happy because this is his farewell here and I didn’t know if he’d give in or not. And so I love it, and the way it was done…I mean…chef’s kiss!”
Her twin sister Nikki agreed.
“I think to end your farewell tour and turn it to a character that the fans have wanted for so long, it’s not only I think going to be fun for him, but how great for the fans,” Nikki said. “It’s like a gift he’s giving you know what I mean, and I think it’s cool. It was amazing too!”
Nikki dated Cena between 2012 and 2018, getting engaged in 2017 in the middle of the ring at WrestleMania 33. The following year, the two called off their engagement and wedding and parted ways, less than a month before their planned wedding date.
