Nic Nemeth wins the IWGP Global Championship at New Beginning in Sapporo

Nic Nemeth, the man formerly known as Dolph Ziggler in WWE, won the IWGP Global Championship today at the New Beginning in Sapporo. The show was held at the Hokkaido Prefectural Sports Center in Sapporo, Japan.

Nemeth defeated David Finlay in the main event of the show, ending Finlay’s reign after just 50 days. Finlay was crowned the inaugural champion at Wrestle Kingdom 18 in a three-way match against Jon Moxley and Will Ospreay.

Nemeth first appeared for NJPW at Wrestle Kingdom with his brother Ryan and got into a brawl with Finlay after Finlay’s match. He then attacked him in the post-show press conference.

This was Nemeth’s first match with New Japan Pro-Wrestling and just his fifth since he was released from WWE. He is also a regular for TNA Wrestling.
