NBC has officially canceled Young Rock, the series which followed Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson from his childhood to becoming a global wrestling superstar.

Season three was switched to the dreaded Friday night time slot, often seen by those in Hollywood as the final nail in the coffin for shows which are facing the axe. Going against Smackdown did not help with retaining the audience either.

The show premiered in February 2021 starring Dwayne Johnson himself, Joseph Lee Anderson, Stacey Leilua, Adrian Groulx, Bradley Constant, Uli Latukefu, Ana Tuisila, Fasitua Amosa and John Tui.

Season three of Young Rock failed to cross the 2 million viewership mark, something it did nine times out of 12 episodes last season. Young Rock season three averaged 1,431,000 viewers over 13 episodes, down significantly from the 2,152,000 of season two.

The series was co-created by Nahnatchka Khan and Jeff Chiang. Nahnatchka is the sister of WWE CEO Nick Khan. Johnson, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, Jennifer Carreras and Brian Gewirtz served as producers of the show.
