Lawler family searching for answers following the suicide of Brian Christopher in jail

NBC affiliate WMC Action News 5 talked to Ted Hansom, the attorney representing the Lawler family following the death of Brian Christopher which took place at the Hardeman County jail.

Hansom said that the family is interested in understanding all of the facts and circumstances surrounding the loss of Brian, who was found hanging in his cell. “It’s very difficult obviously for Jerry to lose a child,” he said. “I think every parent can understand.”

The family is looking to find out exactly what happened before and after he was discovered. The sheriff said that Brain gave no indication that he was suicidal and he was alone in his cell.

“Obviously in this day and time places in particularly jails have video cameras in just about every corner, so it would be interesting to see the actual events,” Hansom said.

Hansom added that the medical examiner’s report should provide more answers along with a report from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. However, so far there is no indication when these reports will be released.
