Jose Lothario passes away at age 83

Jose Lothario, Shawn Michaels’ trainer in the 80s who gained more fame when he was introduced in a storyline during HBK’s challenge for Bret Hart’s WWE title at WrestleMania XII, passed away at age 83.

Born in Mexico, Lothario wrestled mostly in the NWA and was inducted into the NWA Hall of Fame last year. He is survived by his wife Jean and two children, Pete and Gina.

After being introduced to WWE fans in 1996, Lothario, whose real name is Guadalupe Robledo, stayed with the company and by Shawn Michaels’ side through the Royal Rumble in 1997 for the big show at the Alamodome in San Antonio. He briefly made a return in January 1999 taking part in a storyline with Michaels.
