Jerry Lawler awake and talking, full recovery expected after rehab

Jerry “The King” Lawler remains in hospital although he has improved and is awake and talking.

The 73-year-old WWE Hall of Famer had a stroke which affected the right side of his brain and while he has moved his arm, he’s still experiencing problems on the right side of his body and his speech is affected.

Longtime friend and broadcast partner Jim Ross wrote on Twitter that he spoke briefly with “The King” last night and while he is obviously week, he could understand his affected speech.

“Jerry’s prognosis is positive but he needs all our thoughts and prayers,” Ross wrote.

Meanwhile, Jimmy Hart visited Lawler at the hospital in Fort Myers, Florida, and the Jerry Lawler Twitter account provided an update on his condition.

“His speech is limited, but with rehabilitation will regain a full recovery. He thanks everyone for the continued prayers and will be back in the near future,” Lawler’s Twitter said, along with a few photos of Jimmy Hart next to him.
