Former NFL player and WCW wrestler Kevin Greene passes away

Kevin Greene, the former NFL player and WCW wrestler, passed away yesterday at the age of 58. No cause of death was announced.

Greene played for the LA Rams, Pittsburgh Steelers, Carolina Panthers, San Francisco 49ers and then coached the Green Bay Packers and the New York Jets during his illustrious football career. But wrestling fans will mostly remember him for his on-and-off two-year stint in WCW at the height of the Monday Night War.

The Hall of Famer participated in a few matches for the Atlanta-based promotion back then, teaming with fellow football player Steve McMichael, Ric Flair, Roddy Piper, and others. Greene also had a few singles matches, most notably against McMichael who had turned on him to join the Four Horsemen earlier and also against The Giant.

In total, Greene had five matches between June 1996 and his departure in July 1998.
