Shawn Spears announces departure from AEW

Shawn Spears has announced his departure from AEW in a post on social media.

Spears wrote that it has been a wonderful time and thanked AEW for allowing him to be there “from the ground level” and for the fantastic five years of growth and personal development.

“This is a personal choice and one that is best for me and my family at this time,” Spears wrote.

He also thanked the staff, talent, and all the fans for the memories, signing off with “#10,” his NXT gimmick.

The 42-year-old Canadian last wrestled for AEW on the All Out Zero Hour show as part of the Over Budget Charity Battle Royal. His last one-on-one match came in July against Luchasaurus on the Battle of the belts VII broadcast on TNT.
