It won’t be happening in Japan, but it’s happening nonetheless! New Japan Pro Wrestling announced that Jon Moxley will be defending his United States IWGP Heavyweight title against KENTA on Friday, February 26 as part of the NJPW The New Beginning USA show.

Moxley made his first NJPW appearance last Friday in a year and attacked KENTA, who has the number one contender briefcase for the IWGP U.S. title which he won at the New Japan Cup USA tournament last year. Due to travel restrictions, the former AEW World champion was not able to travel to Japan to fulfill his commitments to NJPW but the company opted to let him keep the title which has been dormant since then.

His last title defense came on February 9, 2020 at The New Beginning In Osaka, beating Minoru Suzuki to retain the gold.

The February 26 episode will air on the NJPW World streaming service and will be taped from NJPW’s training dojo in Los Angeles, California.
