Malakai Black discusses his surprise AEW debut

AEW’s newest arrival, Malakai Black, address his surprise debut on Dynamite during a live Twitch broadcast.

Black said that apart from his wife and a few AEW higher ups, nobody knew that he would be making his debut on Wednesday night and arrived in Miami late afternoon to minimize exposure as much as possible.

He said security were alerted about him before the segment started and he had not seen the arena before so it was a bit of a hassle to navigate his way out there in the dark.

The former NXT champion called his debut as one of his top three moments in his professional career and couldn’t sleep after the show because the adrenaline was still pumping.

Admitting he was nervous, Black said he ultimately thinks that moving to AEW was the right for him, his career, and his family. He put over Tony Khan as someone who loves wrestling, the crew, the fellow wrestlers in the back, and was super excited to be part of AEW.
