Kenny Omega wins the AAA Mega championship from Fenix

AEW’s working relationship with AAA became stronger as Kenny Omega won the AAA Mega championship after he defeated Fenix during the Heroes Inmortales XIII event last night. The event was held at the Coliseo “La Concordia” in Orizaba, Mexico.

The match was a continuation of their angle which was set up at the TripleMania XXVIII event two months ago during a six-man tag team match which also involved The Young Bucks, Pentagon Jr., and Laredo Kid.

Fenix, along with Pentagon Jr., are part of the AEW tag team division and will be wrestling in the semi-final of the tournament to crown the inaugural AEW Tag Team champions.

This is Omega’s first title with the Mexican promotion and his first title since he lost the IWGP Heavyweight title at Wrestle Kingdom 13 in January of this year.
