Josh Mathews working backstage at AEW

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is reporting that Josh Lomberger, better known to fans as Josh Mathews, is now working for AEW in a backstage role.

Up until recently, Mathews was working for TNA Wrestling, having joined the promotion in 2014 as a commentator, a position he held until 2021. He then transitioned to a backstage role within TNA but was released in February of this year.

Mathews also had a long run in WWE before his time in TNA, first starting on Tough Enough as a wrestler but then moved to an on-screen role as an announcer. He worked for WWE between 2001 and 2014.

He has been present at AEW television tapings for the past few weeks although his exact role has not been revealed.
