Josh Alexander makes surprise appearance on Dynamite

Josh Alexander made his AEW debut last night on Dynamite, revealing himself as the wildcard in the Owen Hart Cup tournament and faced “Hangman” Adam Page in the quarter final.

During the match, AEW President Tony Khan officially welcomed Alexander to AEW. “It’s official: @Walking_Weapon is ALL ELITE,” he wrote, adding the usual welcome graphic.

Unfortunately for Alexander, he lost his first match but the story was not over. After the match, Kyle Fletcher and Don Callis confronted Page in the ring and it was Alexander who attacked Page from behind, turning heel immediately.

Alexander left TNA in February of this year, losing his last match there against Eric Young on Impact. The Canadian spent six years with the promotion where he won the TNA World title twice, the TNA Tag Team titles twice, and the TNA X Division title once.

Rumors were that Alexander was joining AEW following his TNA departure and it was just a matter of time when he would show up on television.
