Jim Ross reaches out to Cody Rhodes following WWE championship win

On his latest Grilling JR podcast, Hall of Famer Jim Ross said that he reached out to Cody Rhodes after he won the Undisputed WWE title to congratulate him.

“I sent him a text on Monday morning, I let things settle down,” Ross said. “He got back to me on Tuesday.”

The AEW commentator continued, “I just said…you know, I’m proud of you, be the leader that WWE needs. I love you.”

Ross said that Cody responded with a text writing, “I did it cowboy,” revealing that’s what he used to call him when they worked together because of his cowboy hat.

JR was one of AEW’s first hires when Cody was an EVP for the company back in 2019.
