“Hangman” Adam Page no longer in AEW World title picture, Khan comments on decision

“Hangman” Adam Page failed to beat MJF for the AEW World title last night at Revolution and now cannot challenge for the AEW World title ever again regardless of who the champion is.

This was part of the Last Chance Texas Deathmatch stipulation, a very violent 46-minute match which ended with MJF hanging Page in a similar move which Page used to defeat Jon Moxley last year.

“Hangman” went to sleep and hit the camera on his way down, leaving blood all over the lens which was not wiped down. The referee counted to 10 and Page was unable to respond, losing the match.

Speaking to the media after the show, AEW President Tony Khan described the stipulation as a “gentleman’s handshake” between both parties, with Khan mentioning how the same thing happened with Cody Rhodes.

“They both came to me and said, ‘I want to put this at stake.’ And both of them, I told them, ‘That sounds f*cking nuts dude!’ Both of them really wanted to do it,” Khan explained.

“And in both cases I said, ‘Are you sure?’ And they both said, ‘Yeah.’ So, it’s an agreement we made. Second time it’s happened,” he continued.

Khan noted that Adam Page is known for being a man of his word and the agreement they both made is a verbal contract.
