CM Punk injured, to undergo surgery but remains champion

Rampage had more news than originally scheduled as AEW World champion CM Punk announced that he is injured and needs to undergo surgery.

An emotional Punk said that a couple of things were broken, including his heart, and said that he originally wanted to vacate the title he has just won so other deserving individuals like Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson could go for the title.

But Punk said that AEW President Tony Khan vetoed that idea and told him that this was just a bump in the road, and he would be remaining champion.

Punk said that he promises to go on until the wheels go off and as of now, they haven’t gone off, just one of them is broken.

It’s unclear when Punk got the injury and it was not specified what the injury was.

On Wednesday when Dynamite was in commercials following the MJF segment, Punk came out limping heavily to talk to MJF but MJF ran away through the crowd.
