AEW to crown first women’s champion on October 2 TNT premiere episode

AEW will crown its first women’s champion on the premiere episode of AEW on TNT on October 2.

The show, still without an official name, already had two matches confirmed and an appearance from Jon Moxley. It wasn’t revealed what path AEW will take to crown its first women’s champion.

“For many female wrestlers, the opportunity to fight for the title represents the crowning achievement of their careers,” Brandi Rhodes told Sports Illustrated in an exclusive. “The AEW women’s championship will be the cornerstone of the women’s division. The championship will be treated with the utmost respect and prestige. We hope to inspire future female wrestlers to dream of holding such a meaningful title.”

Rhodes also said that more details about the AEW Women’s title and those competing for it will be announced during the Road to All Out YouTube series.

The first AEW on TNT show airs from the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. Tickets go on sale tomorrow at Noon ET at Ticketmaster.com.
