AEW rankings system returning from this month

AEW President Tony Khan announced on X that the company is bringing back its ranking system starting from this month.

The rankings were something that were updated weekly for quite a while, with win/loss records and stars getting title shots depending on where they stand in the rankings. The system however got quietly abandoned when it became evident that it served no real purpose apart from showing win/loss records on screen.

But Khan wants a more sports-based presentation approach for AEW and is now reintroducing the concept hoping it sticks better this time around.

The AEW Rankings were last updated on August 31, 2022 and behind the champions, CM Punk was #1, Hangman Page was #2, and Powerhouse Hobbs was #3 in the men’s rankings. Toni Storm was #1 in the women’s rankings, Britt Baker was #2, and Athena was #3. In the tag team division, FTR was #1, The Acclaimed was #2, and Young Bucks were #3.
