The #1 contender for the AEW Women’s championship will be decided next Wednesday on Dynamite in a Women’s Casino Gauntlet match.

The announcement was made by AEW President Tony Khan in a post on social media yesterday. This will be the first-ever women’s version of the popular Casino Gauntlet match.

The winner of this match will get the title shot at the upcoming Grand Slam: Australia event next month.

The Casino Gauntlet concept involves two wrestlers starting off the match and new entrants coming in at intervals like a battle royal, but the winner is decided after whoever scores the first pinfall, rather than over the top rope elimination. Being early in the match is an advantage as participants who are supposed to come in later in the match might not have the opportunity if someone scores a pinfall early.
