Gunther chokes out Smackdown General Manager Nick Aldis

It looks like Nick Aldis’ return to the ring is imminent after former WWE World Heavyweight champion Gunther viciously attacked the Smackdown General Manager last night on Smackdown.

The main event segment of the show saw Gunther airing his frustration over how he has been treated, especially when it comes to the WWE title picture. Aldis made a match for Saturday Night’s Main Event official, pitting Punk and Rhodes against Gunther and Sami Zayn, but Gunther was not impressed and showed the GM that he did not approve of the decision.

Gunther attacked Aldis, choking him out in the sleeper hold. Several WWE officials ran to the rescue but to no avail. Gunther eventually let go of the hold, but when the credits ran, he applied it again. At that point, Cody Rhodes sprinted down to the ring as the show faded to black.

Aldis has been rumored to be training for another match and it looks like we know who his opponent will be, possibly at SummerSlam. Aldis has not wrestled since October 2023 and has never wrestled inside a WWE ring.
