AEW’s media rights owner Warner Bros. Discovery puts itself up for sale

Warner Bros. Discovery, which owns all the AEW media rights in the United States, issued a press release announcing they have initiated a review of strategic alternatives to maximize shareholder value, or in simple English terms, put itself up for sale.

WBD owns TBS, TNT, and HBO Max, where Dynamite, Collision, and AEW pay-per-views air weekly and monthly.

The press release also said it has received “unsolicited interest” from “multiple parties for both the entire company and Warner Bros.”

The options that WBD are looking for are either to split the company again as previously announced, a full outright sale of the whole company, or separate sales of both Warner Bros. and Discovery Global.

Paramount Skydance, Comcast, and Netflix have all reportedly shown interest in the potential sale.

How that affects AEW remains to be seen, especially if the cable channels land on a TKO broadcast partner.
