Triple H addresses King of the Ring controversy: “Referee’s decision is final”

In a video posted on social media after the King and Queen of the Ring yesterday, Triple H addressed the ending of the match between Gunther and Randy Orton.

Orton was pinned by Gunther but his shoulder was way up from the mat, with the referee not seeing it.

Triple H said that the referee’s decision is final and Gunther remains King of the Ring but hinted at a future match between the two.

“I certainly want to see that again. I think Randy Orton deserves to have another shot at that,” Triple H continued. “And I think, if I know anything about Gunther, he will want to have another shot at that to take the controversy out, to take the asterisk off of the page where it says King of the Ring for him. I think he will want to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is better than Randy Orton.”

Don’t expect the match to happen quickly though, as the WWE COO said that Orton is “pretty banged up” and it will be a “moment or two” before he can step back in the ring with the Ring General.

“But when he is, let’s go,” he said.
