London continued to make its case for a WrestleMania showing WWE how it’s done with a non-televised live event last month drawing over $1 million in gate money.

Quoting numbers from Pollstar, Brandon Thurston on Wrestlenomics wrote that the live event at The O2 Arena in London on April 19 had 16,342 tickets sold for a gate of $1,197,822.

This was the largest non-televised live event of the year so far for WWE and certainly the biggest gate for such an event.

$1 million gates are not uncommon for pay-per-views in wrestling and the occasional televised event in big markets, but a figure like that for a simple house show is very, very, very rare.

The London Mayor told the press that if he gets re-elected in this week’s elections, he will do his utmost to bring WrestleMania to the city, with Triple H replying to him inviting him to talks.
