Adam “Edge” Copeland arrives in AEW

2419

WWE Hall of Famer Adam Copeland made his AEW debut last night at WrestleDream.

Following a short teaser video, Copeland arrived after the main event match between Christian Cage and Darby Allin when there was mayhem in the ring. Cage, Luchasaurus, and Nick Wayne were destroying Allin and Sting and Cage setup Sting for the conchairto.

Alter Bridge’s Metalingus hit the speakers to a massive pop from the crowd and Copeland came out doing his familiar WWE entrance, complete with smoke and fireworks.

He entered the ring and was given the opportunity to finish off Sting by his former tag team partner but instead, Copeland laid out Nick Wayne with the chair as Cage bolted. He then hit the spear on Luchasaurus.

Copeland then closed the show by shaking hands with Sting and Darby Allin.

AEW President Tony Khan posted a message on X after the show that Copeland was “All Elite.”

This is the first time that Edge has worked for a different wrestling company other than WWE since he started with WWE back in 1996.

The 49-year-old finished with WWE this past weekend and his contract expired at the end of September. He did have an extension to his deal but opted not to sign it and instead move to AEW.

Copeland was close to joining AEW in 2020 but WWE cleared him to return to the ring and offered him a better deal. He made his return at the Royal Rumble after he originally retired in 2011 due to back issues.
