The United States title will be defended inside the Elimination Chamber next month in Montreal, marking the first time that the title will be up for grabs in the gimmick match.

Typically, WWE reserves the men’s match for either one of the main titles or else to crown the #1 contender for the title that the Royal Rumble winner doesn’t pick. With both major titles held by Roman Reigns, it was decided to put the U.S. title on the line, continuing to elevate the only Raw brand men’s singles title.

Qualifying matches to determine who will be Austin Theory’s opponents will kick off on Monday Night Raw tonight, with the first two matches – Seth Rollins vs Chad Gable and Baron Corbin vs Johnny Gargano – already announced.

A women’s Elimination Chamber match will also take place.

The main event is expected to be Roman Reigns versus hometown boy Sami Zayn.
