Kenny Omega wins the IWGP United States title at Wrestle Kingdom

Kenny Omega is back with IWGP gold as this morning at Wrestle Kingdom, he defeated Will Ospreay in a near 35-minute match to become the new IWGP United States champion.

The highly-anticipated match between the two was the co-main event of the show and was the second match from last.

Omega was the inaugural IWGP U.S. champion, having won the title on July 2, 2017 at the G1 Special in USA event in Long Beach, California. He held it for 210 days with four defenses before losing it to Jay White. Ospreay held the title for 206 days and won it at Dominion 6.12 in Osaka, Japan in June 2022.

AEW’s Jon Moxley and Lance Archer are also former IWGP United States champions.

Omega has a chance to add another title next week when The Elite take on Death Triangle in match seven of their best of seven series on Dynamite.
