All Out 2022 broke the streak of having every AEW pay-per-view do more buys than the previous year, with this year’s event estimated to have done between 135,000 and 142,000 according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer.
That is down from the 215,000 buys the show did last year, although it was going to be a big task to top that considering last year’s pay-per-view featured CM Punk’s first match back in seven years.
AEW President Tony Khan blamed part of the problem to WWE for overcrowding the weekend with Clash at the Castle on Saturday and then NXT Worlds Collide on Sunday afternoon. Both shows did not obviously go head-to-head with All Out but Khan lamented the fact that they were the third pro wrestling show during Labor Day weekend when usually they’re the first and only ones.
Khan promised not to “sit back and take this shit” from WWE during the explosive media scrum following the conclusion of the show.
Revolution leads the pack this year with 175,000 buys in March and Double or Nothing followed with 155,000 buys. Forbidden Door did 127,000 buys, but the majority of those buys were internationally and came at a lower price point.
