AEW promoting Cody Rhodes’ return to Dynamite tomorrow

AEW is promoting the return of Cody Rhodes for tomorrow’s Dynamite in Washington, DC.

Rhodes, who made the news yesterday for being outed as a free agent and not under a current AEW performer deal, has not been seen on television this year so far and missed several shows due to COVID.

The TNT champion missed the TBS debut and Battle of the Belts a few days later as a family member was diagnosed with COVID-19 and he had to quarantine.

In an odd decision, AEW then decided to create an interim TNT title which Sammy Guevara won in a match against Dustin Rhodes at Battle of the Belts. Creating an interim title just because the champion was out for just two weeks did raise some eyebrows.

Despite being out of a deal, Rhodes is expected to re-sign with AEW where his wife is also the Chief Brand Officer and also has a reality TV show on TNT.

Rhodes has made no mentions in the past of thinking about moving away from the company he helped create.
