New AEW television deal has “very fair financial considerations”

AEW President Tony Khan said during an appearance on Busted Open Radio yesterday that their new add-on deal with WarnerMedia has “very, very fair financial considerations” for them as a company.

Terms of the new expanded deal were not released but AEW got paid for the new one-hour show Rampage, the quarterly supercards that will air on TNT starting 2022, and for moving from TNT to TBS.

In January 2020, WarnerMedia renewed AEW’s television deal through 2023, green-lighting the second show. WarnerMedia paid AEW approximately $45 million per year for the new deal last year, worth a total of $175 million with an option to extent after 2023.

A WarnerMedia spokesperson told Wrestling-Online.com that the new deal announced yesterday does not supersede the one signed in January 2020, but is additive.

There are rumors that WarnerMedia gave AEW on the lower end of an eight-figure sum for this deal.
