Former WWE Diva Ashley Massaro passes away at age 39

Former WWE Diva Ashley Massaro passed away yesterday according to TMZ. She was just 39 years old.

The cause of death was not revealed but Massaro was taken to a hospital in the early hours of Thursday morning and died at the hospital. Officials believe that her death was not a criminal one.

Massaro was part of the 2005 Diva Search contest and won the competition, earning herself a WWE contract. She worked for WWE until July 2008 and asked for her release to take care of her sick daughter.

During her WWE stint she also took a leave of absence after she was cast in the 15th season of Survivor on CBS from China. She did not last long though and was the second one eliminated from the show. She also made an appearance on Smallville and was part of a WWE-themed episode of the then-popular show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

Massaro is also a former Playboy cover girl, appearing nude in the magazine after winning the Diva Search contest.

The New York native had one daughter, Alexa, who was born in July 2000.
