Becky Lynch becomes #1 contender for Smackdown Women’s title

With the WWE, Universal, and Raw Women’s title matches set for SummerSlam, it was only a matter of time until the number one contender for the Smackdown Women’s title was decided.

On Smackdown last night, Becky Lynch defeated Carmella via submission in a non-title match to earn the right to wrestle her for the title at the biggest event of the Summer.

Luck might run out for Carmella at SummerSlam though as her sidekick James Ellsworth was fired by Smackdown General Manager Paige during the broadcast. Ellsworth has helped Carmella defeat Asuka twice over the past two months.

Lynch is the first-ever Smackdown Women’s champion.
