Triple H announces the launch of NXT UK brand, starts tapings next month

At the WWE United Kingdom championship tournament tapings today at the Royal Albert Hall, Triple H announced the launch of the NXT UK brand, featuring singles and tag teams from both men and women. Apart from the WWE UK championship, two new titles will be created, the WWE UK Women’s and the WWE UK Tag Team titles.

Ian Hamilton from BackBodyDrop.com attended the show and reported that WWE will hold television tapings on July 28 and 29 in Cambridge, August 25 and 26 in Birmingham, October 13 and 14 in Plymouth, and November 24 and 25 in Liverpool.

The new logo features the WWE UK Championship shield with the NXT logo over it and UK on the bottom. No other information was released.

WWE has been mulling the idea of launching the UK brand for a year or two now ever since they did the initial UK Championship tournament in January of last year. Triple H said at the time that timing has to be right considering the logistics and money it will involve to create another brand. With the company set to receive a couple of billions in television rights from NBCUniversal and FOX, it looks like this is the perfect time to launch, fending off competition from ITV’s World of Sport Wrestling television show.
