AEW will soon have a new parent company when it comes to its television home as news emerged today that Paramount Skydance has reached an agreement to settle with several U.S. State Attorney Generals which will pave the way for the takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery.

A potential trial was set for March 2027 which would have prolonged the takeover and also result in Paramount paying a $7 million daily fee to WBD until the final signature.

AEW’s media rights agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery goes through 2027 and WBD has an option year for 2028. AEW President Tony Khan is bullish that Paramount will still pick up AEW for another round although many industry insiders are skeptical about it.

Netflix originally won the war for WBD, which would have spelled bad news for AEW since Netflix owns the WWE worldwide rights, but Paramount eventually “kicked out” and overturned the result. Paramount is also in bed with TKO, having the exclusive rights for the UFC and Zuffa Boxing.
