WrestleMania 29 fails to match last year’s PPV buys

The three pay-per-views that were screened during the second quarter of this year all did less buys than what they did the previous year including WrestleMania.

WrestleMania 29 did 1,039,000 buys compared to the 1,217,000 that WrestleMania 28 did. Extreme Rules was down around 30,000 buys, getting 231,000 versus the 263,000 of 2012. Payback did 186,000 buys, down 8,000 buys from the 194,000 the 2012 event did.

In 2012 there was an additional pay-per-view in the second quarter – Over The Limit – which was not on the calendar this year. That show did 167,000 buys.
