Daniel Bryan admits he had mental breakdown after retirement

During media rounds to promote SummerSlam, Smackdown General Manager admitted that he had a “horrible mental breakdown” following his retirement in February.

Bryan was supposed to be part of the WrestleMania weekend activities in Dallas and then join the WWE tour in Europe, however he pulled out of all WWE appearances with WWE giving no indication why.

“That’s what I needed. I needed to get away from all of that and just get out to be by some trees,” Bryan said in a report written on Recorder.ca. Bryan also discussed how he didn’t like moving to Florida to film segments for Total Bellas at John Cena’s house for several weeks. “I get this anxiety in cities and places like that. When you grow up in kind of a small town and when you grow up around a lot of green and trees and nature and that sort of thing, sometimes I think it’s a little mentally disconcerting to be around this concrete.”

Asked if he’s come to terms with the fact that his in-ring wrestling career over, Bryan was honest and said no. “It’s interesting because I guess the real answer is no, but it’s weird. I don’t necessarily agree that there’s something wrong with me, right. The whole issue with concussions is so subjective.”
