In his second ESPN interview of the day, Brock Lesnar said that his illness removed him from the Octagon and he only decided to leave because of health reasons.
“I jumped back in the Octagon too soon,” Lesnar said of his return in 2010, returning to face Shane Carwin six months after 12 inches of his intestines were removed.
When asked what made him jump back in the Octagon again, Lesnar, who called himself a prizefighter, simply said he didn’t want it to be over and 20 years from now he doesn’t want to be the guy who has regrets.
The former WWE and UFC Heavyweight champion said it’s exhilarating and it’s like a weight off his shoulder was removed. “I can’t sit here faking this excitement, I am excited,” he remarked, saying that he’s thankful that UFC allowed him back and thankful that WWE is allowing him to be part of UFC 200.
He joked that he called Vince and said, “Listen old man, we can do this the easy way or the hard way,” and then he beat him up. He said there was zero hesitation from Vince McMahon and thinks that him going back to UFC and then going back to WWE to resume his work there legitimizes WWE.
