Armed police and federal authorities with bomb sniffing dogs surround Philips Arena during PPV

Following the ISIS threat at the Survivor Series, the Atlanta Police Department in conjunction with other federal authorities made their presence known outside the Philips Arena, bringing maximum security to the nearly 15,000 fans who attended the show.

Armed police officers and federal agents surrounded the area as every single fan went through metal detectors and bomb sniffing constantly dogs roamed around. Atlanta’s Mayor Kasim Reed opened a Joint Operations Center, a move out of an “abundance of caution” even though the FBI said they did not have credible information of an attack.

Police instructed all those who were not going in – including members of the press – to stay far away from the arena so they could have a clear view of who’s coming in through video security and eyes on the ground. All bags – including women purses – were banned from the Philips Arena yesterday to make sure no one brings in anything with them.
