UFC on FX: Browne vs Bigfoot live report

UFC is back with another non-pay per view event. UFC on FX 5 starts today at 4:25 pm ET/ 1:25 pm PT with the first fight being streamed on Facebook. The main event will feature the heavy weights today as an undefeated Travis Browne takes on Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva who is making his second appearance in the Octagon. The FX main card will also feature Jake Ellenberger versus Jay Hieron in the co-main event.

The fight card tonight lost the match up between Dennis Hallman and Thiago  Tavares. Hallman failed to make weight yesterday for his fight and was released from his UFC contract. Hallman blamed the failed weight cut on personal issues. Tavares was removed from the card since he didn’t have an opponent to face. As reported by bjpenn.com Hallman passed out trying to cut the last two pounds and was given an IV after that he ballooned up 7 pounds and asked Dana White to be removed from the card.

In other news it is being reported that Jeremy “Little Heathen” Stephens was arrested last night at the host hotel last night. Stephens is scheduled to face Yves Edwards tonight. Stephens supposedly had an outstanding warrant in another state. Dana White posted to twitter a little over an hour ago, “Don’t listen to the media! Nobody ever told them Jeremy isn’t fighting. He is fighting!![sic]” It seems like that fight is scheduled to go on but we will see what kind of mental shape Stephens will be in if he did indeed spend a night in jail.

The UFC website has removed the Stephens vs Edwards fight and the event will now being at 5pm et/ 2pm pt. Now it is back. Main event and Stephens vs Edwards is all that is left other than the main event so it doesn’t look like we will get to see it.

Follow @wonlinemma on twitter for coverage of tonight’s event.
