WWE turns down Mustafa Ali’s request for release

According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Wrestling, WWE has not granted Mustafa Ali’s request to be released and informed him that they do not plan to cut him despite his wish.

Earlier this week, Ali posted on social media that he has a message that is “much bigger than my dreams in pro wrestling” and despite his best efforts, he will not be able to deliver this message while working with WWE and therefore he was requesting to be let go from his contract.

Sapp adds that Ali’s contract has a few years left on it so this might be worst case scenario for the Illinois native. Ali, who has not appeared on television since November, is said to have been involved in an argument with WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon a few months ago over a gimmick change that Ali refused to proceed with.
