WWE says goodbye to the Joe Louis Arena with one final Raw

WWE tonight says goodbye to the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan, as the arena hosts the final Monday Night Raw before it is demolished this year.

Throughout its history, the Joe Louis Arena hosted seven WWE pay-per-views: Survivor Series in 1991, 1999, and 2005, Vengeance 2002, Royal Rumble 2009, Over The Limit 2010, and Night of Champions 2013.

It also hosted 14 episodes of Monday Night Raw and 13 episodes of Smackdown, and throughout the years the arena has seen its fair share of WWE craziness. The Joe Louis Arena saw Stone Cold Steve Austin driving a Zamboni through the backstage area out to the ring, Austin and The Rock fighting all the way outside ending with Austin throwing The Rock over a bridge, The Undertaker’s first WWE title win at the Survivor Series, Kurt Angle’s pay-per-view debut, Shane McMahon’s return last year, and many more.

In total, WWE has been going back to the Joe Louis Arena for over 30 years, holding its first show there in December 1984 and eventually staging more than 100 events there.
